The Elden Ring Volcano Manor quest is a side quest that players can take part in to get some extra gear and access to the fight with Shardbearer Rykard. Elden Ring's many questlines are often difficult to follow if you don't remember all the key details, but they are usually worth it for the quest rewards and extra lore. If you need a helping hand with starting and finishing the Elden Ring Volcano Manor quest, we've got you covered.

  • If you want to check out more questlines, here's our walkthrough of the Elden Ring Fia quest, which can earn you an alternate ending.

To start this quest, you will need to make your way to the main entrance of Volcano Manor, which is located in the Mt. Gelmir region, west of the Altus Plateau. There are a few ways of getting to this place, but if you are insistent on finishing the Volcano Manor questline, only two are relevant.

Firstly, you can get there by walking. You'll need to make your way to the westside of the Altus Plateu and find the Writheblood ruins. There will be a bridge nearby that will take you to the Bridge of Iniquity Site of Grace, and from here you should hug the cliff wall on your left and look for a ladder leading to the next level. From here, there is a linear path that leads you to the manor, and you'll have to take on a Fallingstar Beast boss along the way.

The other way to arrive at the main entrance is by finishing the Rya questline. She is an NPC that can be found in the southern part of the swamp area in Liurnia. She will ask you to get her necklace from Blackguard Big Boggart who can be found north-west at the Boilprawn Shack. You can either purchase the necklace or kill him and loot it directly, but he plays a big role later in the Elden Ring Dung Eater quest when alive. After this, return the necklace to Rya for an invitation to the manor, and once you go up the Grand Lift of Dectus, she can be found nearby. Speaking to her will teleport you to the manor directly.

After this, you will need to go speak to an NPC called Tanith who is sitting in a chair next to a Crucible Knight. She will ask if you wish to join the Volcano Manor, and if you say yes, the quest will begin, and she'll gift you the Drawing Room key.

With this key, you can turn around and take the left corridor, opening the very last door on the left. Inside here, you can find a letter on a table that will instruct you to invade an NPC called Old Knight Istvan in Limgrave. The location will be marked on the map with a red symbol, so you can see exactly where you need to go. Once there, find the red invasion sign on the ground and you will be taken to his world where you can kill him, earning you the Scaled Armour set. Head back to Volcano Manor and talk to Tanish to report your victory, and she will gift you the Magma Shot sorcery.

Returning to the room with the previous letter, you will now find another one that tasks you with killing Rileigh the Idle. They are located in the west of the Altus Plateau, and once again a red symbol will show you where to go. Once Rileigh is dead you will gain the Crepus' Vial talisman, and upon speaking to Tanith again, she will give you the Serpentbone Blade.

Once again, you can go into the room with the table to grab another letter that instructs you to kill Juno Hoslowy, Knight of Blood. They are located over in the Mountaintops of the Giants region, meaning you can't get to them until you have defeated the Elden Ring Morgott boss fight. Afterwards, the way will be clear, and once you have defeated him, you will gain the Howlow's Oath gesture, his full armour set, and Hoslow's Petal Whip. Returning to Tanith will reward you with the Taker's Cameo talisman, and you will be ready for the next part of the quest.

  • While you are in the Volcano Manor, make sure to pick up the Elden Ring Magma Blade, which is one of the rarest weapons in the game.

If you speak to Tanith again after getting the last reward, she will offer you the chance to meet the Volcano Manor lord, and if you say yes, you will be teleported to the Audience Pathway Site of Grace. Inside here is the Elden Ring Rykard boss, so check that out to see how to defeat him easily. Once he is slain, return to Tanith who will comment on the death of her lord, and if you reload the area, all the characters from the Volcano Manor will have disappeared. You can go back into the arena where you fought Rykard to battle the Crucible Knight who was next to Tanith, and you can also see her devouring Rykard's head.

That's all for our walkthrough of the Elden Ring Volcano Manor quest, and now you should be able to kill the targets and gain access to the Rykard fight.
