Will Armored Core 6 be a Soulslike?
Any fan of FromSoftware’s games will want to know if Armored Core 6 will be Soulslike, or if it will be more in line with what we last saw from the series ten years ago. We haven’t had a new game in this series in ten years, despite it being nearly three decades old, so the anticipation for the game is high.
In 2013, the last time we got a new Armored Core game, the Soulslike genre was still relatively young and hadn’t experienced the immense popularity it now has today.
However, the genre that FromSoftware has popularised, perfected and arguably invented is very in vogue, so will the studio choose to transition one of its pre-existing franchises to fall in line with what’s made them a household name? Will Armored Core 6 be a Soulslike?

The Armored Core games have the player taking control of huge, customisable mechs, whilst the gameplay will rely on shooting in a third-person perspective. So, even from the get-go, it is vastly different to FromSoftware’s other games.
However, this doesn’t mean Armored Core 6 won’t include elements from what FromSoftware has been making in recent years. In an interview with Eurogamer, Armored Core 6 Producer Yasunori Ogura stated “While the base format of the Armored Core games and Armored Core 6 is very different from that of the Souls series and games like Sekiro".
He went on to add, "We have tried to incorporate some of that design philosophy and our experience over the last several years”.
We won’t have to wait long until we can play Armored Core 6 for ourselves, but so far it seems like it will still hold all the DNA that made fans fall in love with the series but with the learnings from the Soulslike genre.
