Respawn 'Refusing' To Make Valkyrie Changes In Apex Legends Season 10
It's all-change for Apex Legends Season 10, and as we enter this milestone moment for Respawn Entertainment's beloved hero shooter, players are dying to know who'll get a buff, who'll get a nerf, and who is destined to be a forgotten Pathfinder.
Since its release in early 2019, Apex Legends has carved its own Overwatch-inspired legacy. More than just a variety of different maps, modes, and in-game events, the core of Apex has been the Legends themselves. From the OGs like Wraith, Mirage, and Bloodhounds to newcomers like Horizon, Fuse, and Valkyrie, there's a rag-tag cast of rogues ready to do battle.
As with any season of Apex, we're expecting a few tweaks for existing Legends. However, Respawn has confirmed Valkyrie won't be changed in Season 10. This flying favourite will be staying exactly as is as we celebrate 10 seasons of Apex Legends.
Why won't there be any Valkyrie changes in Apex Legends Season 10?
Posting on Reddit, Lead Gameplay Designer Daniel Klein discussed Valkyrie in particular. With the long-rumoured Valk arriving in Season 9, Klein confirmed her newcomer status means she won't be buffed or nerfed in Season 10. If you main Valkyrie and are happy with the way she plays, it's great news.
"Looking at her stats right now, she's solidly in the middle of the pack (except her pick rate is high; which is fine, she's new, and she's a mobility legend; those just get picked more)", said Klein. More than just no Valkyrie changes in Apex Legends Season 10, Klein added, "I foresee no need for any changes in the near future".
Compared to something like Fortnite season lengths, each Apex season is relatively short. By the sounds of it, you also shouldn't be expecting a whole new Valkyrie in Season 11.
What Valkyrie changes do players want in Apex Legends Season 10?
Despite Valkyrie's popularity, that doesn't mean she hasn't come with her problems. Some players are asking for a rework, with Klein's thread highlighting several complaints with the Winged Avenger.
Although most agreed she was well-balanced, one critic wrote, "Her jetpack is obviously waaaay too strong for aggressive/chaotic PUBS gameplay. She can escape bad situations over and over and over without ever being punished and is an incredibly easy legend to do well with because of this".
Another added, "It would be interesting if her in-flight scans were toned down to only show immediate danger. If the in flight scans are 200m (guessing), it would be interesting to know tests on half that". Others were fine with Valk as is, as a third concluded, "The moment Valkyrie gets nerfed she’s gonna be lowered to trash tier and she’ll just become another character like Wattson and Caustic".
Later in the same thread, Klein reiterated that the numbers confirm Valkyrie's win rate is similar to other Legends in the same skill bracket. No one is perfect in Apex Legends, but with Valk faring better than other additions who've arrived in later seasons (we're naming no names), rest assured that she's staying the same... for now.
