The April 2 Apex Legends patch was a disaster for Respawn Entertainment, as it accidentally reset a huge number of accounts for seemingly no reason at all.

Players not only lost hard-earned levels but also skins and, in some cases, even Heirlooms. This was a massive cause for concern, and shortly after, fans were demanding answers, a fix, and, most of all, compensation for the incident that occurred.

While the accounts have begun to be restored, the devs decided to compensate every Apex competitor with a small gift to say sorry.

Respawn compensates players with 8 Apex Legends packs

Taking to X on April 10, Respawn thanked the fanbase for their "patience" as it works through the "data outage" and the "data recovery" process.

As a way of apologising for what happened, it gifted everyone in the community eight Apex Legends packs. These weren't only given to those affected, but also just any regular competitor who has an account. So, make sure to log on to crack them open.

Apex Legends fans argue packs do not make up for "horrific experience"

Not everyone is convinced eight packs is enough, though, with some describing the feeling of losing their Heirloom as a "horrific experience."

Others in the thread also claim that they're still missing thousands of Apex Coins that they paid for. So, opening eight packs to receive "white and blues" isn't enough of an apology - they just want their coins back.

"8 packs of commons and rares for the apology of an actual horrific experience from their game," said one user, with another claiming, "8 F**KING PACKS??? I’m still missing 6,700 coins."

It's worth noting that the devs have made it clear that they're still restoring reset accounts, so if you're still missing collectables, it may take a little while before Respawn can implement a fix.
