Update (21:18 BST): MW2 Ranked play has now been enabled

As Call of Duty rolls out one of the biggest updates in its history in a bid to save Warzone 2 and continue building on Modern Warfare 2's popularity, it appears some of the guns have come out blazing, but one, in particular, has found itself in quite the jam.

MW2 Ranked has been a resounding success after being rolled out in Season 2, often being hailed as the best Ranked mode we've seen yet.

However, if players wanted to get off to a flying start in Season 3, they'll have to wait, as Treyarch has pressed pause on the grind to Iridescent by disabling the playlist temporarily.

MW2 Ranked Mode bug forces Treyarch to disable playlists

Over the last ten weeks, MW2 players have been fighting through the ranks to try and get their Season 2 rewards, which included a fresh Operator skin sporting the colours of their highest-achieved division (for example, a deep blue stripe for achieving Diamond).

But with a new season and new rewards, a wealth of bugs and issues have occurred when collecting the goodies and transitioning into a new season, and Treyarch has now been forced to temporarily disable MW2 Ranked completely.

The main bug in question appears to be incorrect rank and skill information being relayed to players in-game, although other players have also struggled to receive their Season 2 rewards too.

Treyarch set to remove players' Ranked SR earned in MW2 Season 3

Those players who have managed to get in some Season 3 action won't be pleased to know that their games won't count. Instead, any SR which has already been earned in Season 3 will be taken back and reset to their starting Skill Division.

"Anyone who managed to play games of Ranked prior to it being disabled this morning will have their SR reset to their starting Season 03 Skill Division when the issue is resolved," said Treyarch.

Treyarch will be looking to fix this issue immediately, after adding it to their Trello board, and hopefully, Ranked will be up and live soon.
