Red Dead glitch is running rife in Rockstar Games' beloved Red Dead Redemption 2, as the wild Western is plagued by zombies. And no, this isn't a long-awaited sequel to 2010's Undead Nightmare expansion.

Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018, the game has remained popular - part in thanks to the many updates to Red Dead Online. Added to this, players are still discovering Easter eggs and glitches in both the standard and Online versions of the game that have us riding back into Armadillo on our horses.

What is the Red Dead zombie glitch?

Posting on Reddit, u/MooseVI showed off a terrifying scene where players look like they're turned into brain-hungry zombies you might find in an Evil Dead movie. During one cutscene between Arthur Morgan and an NPC, the scene suddenly went green, the background stormy, and their eyes went a possessed shade of white.

Instead of being an Undead Nightmare teaser, it's likely this is a fault on the player's behalf with resolution. Still, fans loved the zombie snippet and quickly flooded the comment section. One wrote, "I wish they would do an undead nightmare 2", while another added, "Saw this happen to Dutch once as well during a cutscene, slightly terrifying".

A third joked, "MrBoss is just like: so as you can see here, this is definite proof RDR2 will be getting Undead Nightmare DLC". Importantly, the glitch shows was a modernised Undead Nightmare "could" look like.

Will we get a Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare 2?

Of course, seeing a zombified Arthur Morgan inside RDR2 has sparked hope that we'll get another Undead Nightmare. Released in 2010, Undead Nightmare followed an alternate reality where the Old West was ravaged by zombies.

Dubbed one of the best DLCs of all time, Undead Nightmare tasked John Marston with saving the USA from those rotting rascals. It had all your Red Dead favourites and occult magic, so what else could you want from a Rockstar title?

Unfortunately, Undead Nightmare was released immediately after Red Dead. We've waited nearly three years since RDR2's release for an Undead Nightmare sequel, and there hasn't even been a zombie moan.

After the Red Dead zombie glitch started doing the rounds, fans suggested we could see an Undead Nightmare sequel in Red Dead Online. The online multiplayer is known for dishing out updates, and just like Fortnitemares or The Haunting of Verdansk, it's easy to imagine a zombie-infested Red Dead Online for the spooky season.

In the meantime, dodgy lighting glitches are about as close as we get to zombies in Red Dead Redemption
