Dirty, rotten, scoundrels are wandering into town and stirring up some trouble, as those Red Dead Redemption 3 rumours are back with a vengeance. The problem is, they have no business anywhere. Rockstar Games hasn't even updated us on continuing the Red Dead Redemption series.

It's easy to forget the Red Dead name started with Red Dead Revolver back in 2004, mainly thanks to 2010's Red Dead Redemption catapulting the IP into the mainstream. 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 is held as one of the best video games of all time, and much like The Last of Us, many are asking where's our next game.

Don't believe the Red Dead Redemption 3 hype

A recent post on the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit has gone viral, with Twitter account MyTimeToShineHello simply saying Red Dead Redemption 3 is "in development." For those who've got their ear close to the ground, they'll know this isn't the revelatory tweet it's supposed to be.

In 2021, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick compared the Red Dead franchise to James Bond and seemingly confirmed its future. Even back then, the idea of Red Dead Redemption 3 went viral, but it seems strange to dredge it up now. It's clearly part of Elon Musk's Revenue Sharing.

It's true that the OP has a strong record of Marvel leaks, but one angry fan responded, "Yeah, the interview was last year, lol. Just dredging sh*t up for clicks. I'm sure a new Red Dead will arrive eventually, but not for a while. Probably another 5-6 years at least."

Another fumed, "This is why I hate all this "insider" thing. Zero accountability with more and more educated guesses coming out of the woodwork," and a third concluded, "They see these things, and run with it. Causing chaos, misinformation and the like."

Do we know anything about Red Dead Redemption 3?

Aside from some vague musings by Zelnick, there's not much else to go on when it comes to Red Dead Redemption 3. For starters, those behind the scenes at Rockstar Games are keeping their lips sealed. You should also remember the developer is currently in the midst of crafting GTA 6.

There's also the disappointment of the GTA Trilogy and grumbles about 2023's Red Dead Redemption port instead of the new-gen remaster we'd hoped for. Then again, it's likely much like The Last of Us Part 3, and we imagine conversations are being had somewhere.

If we are getting a Red Dead Redemption 3, there are plenty of ways the story could go. Whether it be a full-blown sequel with Jack Marston or a prequel focusing on someone like ol' Landon Ricketts, the Wild West is calling our name, and we can't wait to saddle up for more. Just don't expect to hear anything for a while.
