Red Dead Online Glitch Adds Ghost Horses
We're seeing spectres in Red Dead, as the latest Red Dead Online update has added a bizarre stable glitch that introduces ghost horses to the Old West. While we love having a faithful steed by our side, ghost horses are an unwelcome addition pulled straight from The Twilight Zone.
Although the latest "Blood Money" update has added a tonne of new content to Rockstar Games' online multiplayer, there's something strange going on in the stables. It seems that players are just as spooked as the horses themselves, as glitches are not only cloning horses, but seeing ghost horses running wild out there on the plains of Red Dead.
What are ghost horses in Red Dead Online?
Like something from Sleepy Hollow, nightMARE horses are galloping across Red Dead Online. There are multiple reports of "ghost" horses appearing in Red Dead Online. According to players, fast-running horses are randomly spawning. Although they're decked out in fancy tack and look like they have owners, the mysterious riders are nowhere to be seen.
More than just being a nuisance as they dash around the desert, these ghost horses are crashing into players and wiping them out. YouTuber MB showed off "Red Dead Redemption 2: T-Boned By Player's Horse" - which does what it says on the tin. While riding around and completing a quest, the two-minute mark sees a ghost horse appear from nowhere and ride into them at ridiculous speed.
Ghost horses are confusing everyone right now, namely because they're customised like players have added them on purpose. Is it a case of our horses breaking free from the confines of our stables when we're not around and wreaking havoc on Red Dead Online?
Will Rockstar remove ghost horses from Red Dead Online?
Another redditor showed off a chilling encounter where a ghost horse appeared in the swamp area. This one actually had a rider on it, however, galloped off into the mist before the OP could figure out what's going on. It's almost as terrifying as that Red Dead glitch that turned NPCs into zombies, or seeing a real-life version of Homer Simpson in the game.
Interestingly, ghost horses could be linked to a cutscene glitch that's appeared in the stables. Players have reported seeing horses bolt from the stable when the cutscene plays, but others think they're left behind by disconnected players.
Ghost horses weren't the only problem with these hooved helpers in the "Blood Money" update. Others have reported finding random horses just standing around, while others have found dead horses lying on the floor for no apparent reason. None of these horses can be interacted with - proving they aren't wild stallions going rogue.
We expect Rockstar will tackle ghost horses in Red Dead Online quickly, but at the time of writing, there's no news on when it will be addressed. For the time being, we suggest you keep your wits about you when out there on your horses. One thing's for sure, these horse glitches ain't no day at the races for disgruntled fans.
