Major GTA 6 leak has been debunked

There's another blow to the Grand Theft Auto series, as a pretty major GTA 6 leak has been debunked as just another elaborate hoax.

Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series just can't seem to catch a break, can they? The Halloween season has only brought tricks instead of treats in 2023, with that rumoured GTA 6 reveal failing to come true. While we could've told you that would be the case, another supposedly major GTA 6 leak has been debunked.

What we couldn't have guessed is just how GTA V would've changed the gaming scene a decade ago. With the fifth mainline game becoming the most profitable entertainment product of all time, the success of GTA V and GTA Online has come at the cost of GTA 6. Still, we're (hopefully) a little closer to the next game every day.

GTA 6 rating has been debunked

It wasn't long ago we got a glimmer of hope for an imminent release. This came courtesy of the Australian Age Rating Board, and with ratings typically coming toward the end of a game's production cycle, it potentially hinted that we were closer than ever to a release. Sadly, that might not be the case.

As the classification reportedly came from March this year, there were already suspicions about why it hadn't been picked up and whether it was the real deal. PCGamesN has done a little digging by going straight to the source, and like so many GTA 6 leaks, it looks like this one was a hoax.

PCGamesN confirmed anyone can submit a rating to the site, with the Australian classifications board giving a disappointing statement: "The classification record for Grand Theft Auto 6 that previously appeared on the National Classification Database was unfortunately erroneous...This has now been removed from the Classification website."

Another disappointment for impatient GTA 6 players

This predictable blow doesn't make it any easier, as we're once again shown that some people will make anything up just for the clout. With a recent GTA 6 Metacritic page also doing the rounds, we're worried it's going to be more of the same.

As for that supposed GTA 6 announcement, it turns out Rockstar was just queuing up its annual drop of Halloween content in GTA Online. When Rockstar revealed a trailer for its Halloween spooktacular, the comments soon went sour, as players bemoaned yet another announcement that has nothing to do with GTA 6.

One disappointed fan wrote, "They’re milking GTAV/GTAO way beyond its years. Let it go, move on and let’s get some official GTA 6 info," while another added, "I bet Elon Musk gets a spaceship to Mars before we see any news about GTA VI."

Someone else concluded, "Rockstar's latest GTA 5 Halloween video got 18k likes and 54k dislikes Rockstar games should announce GTA 6 at this point lol, nobody really cares about the weekly updates anymore just release GTA 6 Rockstar. This is getting overwhelming!"

We have to agree that things are getting a little ridiculous now, and part of us thinks Rockstar is fully aware of what's going on. Are we just the butt of some cruel Halloween prank? It certainly feels that way.
