Indie Horror 'Wronged Us' Looks Like A Secret Silent Hill Game
Who'd have thought horror games would be having a resurgence in 2021? Much like we managed to cast off the shackles of poorly-written 00's slashers, Little Nightmares 2, Resident Evil Village, Until Dawn, The Medium, and all the rest are showing us how it's done.
Indie horrors are especially popular right now, and a mystery title is taking over the internet in a big way. There's something about secretive games that grab our attention, and just like Sony piqued our interest with Abandoned (seriously, where is it?), Wronged Us could be one to watch.
What is Wronged Us?
If you asked "What is Wronged Us about?", we'd have to admit, we don't know. A tiny teaser has made its way online for Halloween. At just 19 seconds long, it features a headless couple stood atop a hill as a breeze blows by. It ends with an unknown man walking toward them, the screen fading to black, and a promise that the game is coming next year.
That's it. Apart from the fact Wronged Us will be built in Unreal Engine and is inspired by the Silent Hill and Dark Souls games, with a bit of Resident Evil thrown in, there's nothing else to go off. There are definitely some Silent Hill vibes with these headless ghouls, while we also find ourselves thinking of Death Stranding thanks to the trailer's grey aesthetic. In terms of viral marketing campaigns, this one's a doozy.
When will we know more about Wronged us?
Weirdly, there isn't even a developer attached to Wronged Us - meaning we have no idea who is making it. While this could mean it's little more than a fan project from a horror hound, what if it's another secret game? Only recently, there were rumours Abandoned could be a secret placeholder for "abandoned" Konami franchises like Castlevania, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill.
Even if Abandoned has been forgotten almost as soon as it arrived, it looks increasingly likely something is going on with Silent Hill. The latest update even claimed Hideo Kojima could be working on a series refresh as a PlayStation exclusive. We're not buying that Wronged Us is a secret Silent Hill game, but let's be honest, stranger things have happened.
