Fighting for democracy and freedom in Helldivers 2 is meant to be tough and challenging, after all, you're taking on the might of Joel

When it steps over the line and becomes frustrating or unfair, that's when the community is going to call on the devs to make changes.

Well, that appears to be the case for a specific debuff which, in the eyes of players, is both "overused" and "terrible" to experience.

From their perspective, nearly every enemy in the game applies the debuff, and Arrowhead needs to add counterplay or resistances as soon as possible.

Helldivers 2 fans slam "awful" slow debuff

Alongside the busted Shield Devastator robots shooting through terrain, the slow debuff is currently the ultimate problem for Helldivers 2 fans.

Taking to the Helldivers subreddit, user Perfect_Track_3647 decided to highlight how "overused" the slow mechanic is in-game, arguing that "Hunters slow you, little green b***ards slow you, big green b***ards slow you, bushes slow you, mud slows you, tremors slow you no matter what you do, the stupid god damn blue plant slows you to a crawl."

In their opinion, all of this results in an experience where "every little thing gives you a slow debuff and it’s AWFUL," making it almost impossible to dodge projectiles and get out of the way of lethal attacks. It's safe to say this isn't an isolated opinion, with countless Helldivers voicing their hatred towards the dreaded slow debuff.

"Absolutely infuriating to completely dodge an attack and still get struck with the debuff for some reason," said one user, with another arguing "Bile mobs having slow makes sense... Hunters and Stalkers don't."

Instead of just complaining though, Helldivers 2 players have come up with a set of solutions for the devs that could address the slow problem.

For starters, the obvious one is nerfing the debuff as a whole or removing it from certain enemies where it doesn't make sense for them to have that mechanic as part of their kit.

The second, and perhaps more interesting idea, is to add a type of "armour that has some form of slow resistance." This would give players something to work towards and give them the ability to dodge far more attacks on the battlefield.

No matter what direction Arrowhead goes, there needs to be a change to slows, as it doesn't make sense for every foe to apply it in a skirmish.
