In Helldivers 2, you're tasked with taking down a variety of enemies in your mission to liberate planets and fight for democracy.

While nearly all of them pose a serious threat, there's one particular foe that feels a little unfair in the eyes of the community right now.

These armoured behemoths are called Shield Devastators, and players have noticed that they're seemingly able to shoot through terrain.

This is almost guaranteed to be a bug, and it's causing serious issues for Helldivers attempting to take cover, as they seem to be constantly blown away by ground-penetrating projectiles.

Helldivers 2 Shield Devastators are shooting through terrain

Taking to the Helldivers subreddit, user StickFailedHisLife decided to highlight why Shield Devastators are "broken" and not working as intended.

As showcased in the clip, the armoured enemies can currently shoot through themselves and terrain to hit Helldivers who should be safe from gunfire. The Devastator firing at StickFailedHisLife isn't even facing the correct direction, so there's no way it should be laser-beaming them down.

"Can we start complaining about this more? I'm not sure if the devs are even aware of the absolute horrid state of heavy devastators right now... An automaton mission becomes impossible the second only a few of them show up because of s**t like this, where they shoot through surfaces including themselves."

This is certainly not an isolated complaint, with countless players in the thread claiming Devastators regularly clip "through terrain to shoot me from behind a wall." This is definitely a bug with the foes that Arrowhead need to address sooner rather than later.

Shield Devastators have "aimbot" accuracy, according to Helldivers 2 fans

While StickFailedHisLife was just complaining about the terrain glitch, others in the thread took it upon themselves to argue that the Shield Devastators may be a little overtuned as well.

In their eyes, the robots seem to have "aimbot" accuracy and never miss, meaning if there are multiple on the battlefield, it feels like an impossible task to take them down.

"They are some of the most annoying things, especially when most maps are filled with spores and s**t where you can't see further than 20m away while these d**kheads snipe you from across the map," said one user, with another claiming, "The worst offender is that they shoot me with perfect accuracy, making my aim flinch."

So, alongside a fix to the Shield Devastator's terrain-piercing shots, fans are also calling for a nerf. The intimidating enemies have got a little big for their boots, and Arrowhead may need to bring down the hammer.
