How To Make The Havoc An Awesome Apex Legends SMG Despite Its Nerfs

Apex Legends’ weapon meta is ever-changing, with different hop ups switching up which guns are the most overpowered. Weapons such as the R99 and the Peacekeeper have remained as elite choices in the weapons tier list, however, one gun has yet to stamp its authority on Kings Canyon: the Havoc.

Undergoing multiple buffs and nerfs over the seasons, the Havoc has never settled and sustained itself as a top tier weapon, even when the turbocharger was available. In recent Apex Legends news, the Havoc underwent another change which meant it’s vertical recoil was increased significantly meaning that it is harder to beam opponents at long range like the better assault rifles do, however, play with it like you would if it were a submachine gun (SMG) and you might have a lot of success.

Popular YouTuber iTemp found that if you hip-fire your first 5-10 bullets with the Havoc, it eliminates the recoil nerf, allowing it to remain accurate up close and then you can aim in for optimal precision. By darting around the map hitting hip fire shots up close, the Havoc actually deals insane damage, and can even rival the R99 in many situations.

The nerfing did reduce the base mag size from 32 to 28, however, this is still higher than the R99’s even with a level 3 magazine extension (27), and the L-STAR (23 before overheating).

Surprisingly, the Havoc even has a better Damage Per Second than both of the leading SMGs. The R99 deals 198 damage per second, and the L-STAR does a mere 180. The Havoc excels in this area with a whopping 202 damage per second to the body, and with a larger magazine than both the alternatives, it can be much more forgiving if you miss shots.

For a gun that was built upon accuracy when it was first introduced to Apex Legends, the Havoc has transitioned massively into a lethal SMG, suitable for all players.
