The wait is nearly over, with 343 Industries finally ready to jump on the back of a Warthog and roar into video game battle with Halo Infinite. Although we've managed to put the Craig the Brute meme disaster of last year's Xbox Games Showcase behind us, there's a new controversy thanks to bots apparently "teabagging" Infinite players.

As the already long-awaited sequel to 2015's Halo Guardians, the agonising wait for Infinite has been made worse by a multitude of delays. We're full-steam ahead for a "late 2021" release, and even though the Halo Infinite multiplayer technical preview has restored our faith in the franchise, some of the shine has been taken off it by teabagging bots.

Why are Halo Infinite bots teabagging players?

Posting on Reddit, u/AfixeVI shared footage of an unexpected boast from the bots. The OP was happily enjoying themselves on the Recharge map and making the most of Infinite's improved specs. Bot 343 Mill downed AfixeVI, but instead of going onto their next victim, they're seen doing a merry jig that looks A LOT like teabagging.

Fellow players were shocked by this rogue AI tebagging fallen rivals. One wrote, "Damn. I got my ass kicked a few times with the ODST bots, and now they’re just rubbing it in lol", while another added, "Now this is combat truly evolved". A third concluded, "Oh god, they’re learning. The only way this can get worse is they sent us a shi**alking Xbox message after we get killed."

More than just an isolated incident of unsportsmanlike behaviour, Halo Infinite has gone full Westworld, and it looks like the bots are revolting against their human overlords. Another user posted on Twitter and showed off the bagging bots.

We're not sure how or why teabagging bots made their way into Halo Infinite, but it's likely they've learned their behaviour from monitoring human multiplayers since Combat Evolved released in 2001

Will 343 remove teabagging bots from Halo Infinite?

The jury's out on whether teabagging bots are a bit of fun, a rude middle finger to fans of the franchise, or just a complete mistake. Either way, teabagging bots in Halo Infinite has given the game another wave of press - they say there's no such thing as bad publicity.

It may seem like a bit of fun, but there are sure to be those who call out 343 Industries for promoting a toxic culture. Teabagging in games is a point of contention, with VALORANT pros being asked not to teabag opponents during the VALORANT Champions Tour. Elsewhere, there's an unreleased Warzone finisher that let you teabag enemies.

Let's be honest, there's nothing worse than someone dancing over your corpse in Fortnite. However, teabagging takes it one step further. If Warzone decided against a teabagging finisher, is it really for the best if Halo Infinite encourages you to dunk your PG Tips on an opponents face.?
