"It's Halloween, everyone's entitled to one good scare." The spooky season is well and truly upon us, and with it, the Devil is coming back to Haddonfield - well, Sanguine Suites. It's that time of the year where Fortnite carves its pumpkins, puts out the cobwebs, and dons its witch's hat.

Fortnitemares 2023 is giving Epic's battle royale bloodbath its typical undead overhaul, with a whole host of occult goings on transforming the map. Like Call of Duty: Warzone's seasonal offerings, Fortnite gives us one of the best Halloween crossovers. This year, it's adding a horror legend to the mix.

Michael Myers is slicing his way into Fortnite

While Fortnite usually goes for the family-friendly aesthetic, it's poised to add a very adult addition to Fortnitemares 2023. Up there with Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees and A Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers is one of the big three.

Since his introduction in John Carpenter's Halloween, Michael Myers has carved himself quite the legacy. Following a run of eight Halloween movies, we had Rob Zombie's reboot series (adding another two to the mix), and a soft reboot trilogy that started with 2018's confusingly named Halloween.

As usual, the leakers got their first, confirming a Michael Myers skin. Better yet, there's the "Live From Haddonfield" emote that brings Carpenter's iconic score to Fortnite. It's sure to be worth the V-Bucks. The official Fortnitemares 2023 patch notes and trailer then confirmed "The Shape" will be lumbering into Fortnite.

We're told the Michael Myers Outfit will arrive "later" in Fortnitemares 2023, suggesting he's not quite ready to butcher the competiton just yet. Still, it gives you plenty of time to get to grips with Fortnitemares and save up those V-Bucks for the Haddonfield Horror.

What else is coming to Fortnitemares 2023?

It's a sinister smorgasbord for Fortnitemares 2023, with everything from redesigned bosses to returning weapons. Deep breath because here we go. Lightsabers are being vaulted, but in their place, there's a revamped Kinetic Balde in the form of Thorne's Vampiric Blade.

A vampiric Kado Thorne has taken up residence at Eclipse Estate and will drop the blade if you best him. Luckily, there's the new addition of the Wood Stake Shotgun to give you a hand. Elsewhere, the fan-favourite Horde Rush LTM is back with a vengeance.

Finally, you're probably dying to know what other skins are coming to the shop. There's an Alan Wake skin to celebrate the imminent release of Alan Wake 2, while we're all going to be singing "This is Halloween" thanks to a supersized The Nightmare Before Christmas crossover.

Fortnitemares 2023 is full of returnees like the Pumpkin Launcher and a host of classic skins, but safe to say, Mr. Myers is sure to scare up a storm. We've been begging Epic to bring more horror legends into the game, and by the looks of it, we've got our wish. Now, promise you'll put Freddy in for 2024.
