It seems (at least for now) that Grand Theft Auto Online has no intention of slowing down. We wouldn't either, not if we were making as much money as Rockstar Games.

The online segment of GTA V has been bigger than its platform for some time now, making massive moves on the microtransaction front to make the game perhaps the most lucrative live service game in history.

We always expected this of GTA, and after a decade of content, its new story additions have been revealed - and they're set to be pretty bombastic. GTA Online is getting a massive San Andreas expansion.

San Andreas Mercenaries is coming for GTA Online

GTA Online has revealed its brand-new add-on, and it's poised to see Merryweather get their comeuppance. The dramatic new trailer has revealed San Andreas Mercenaries in explosive fashion, flexing fighter jets, fancy armoured vehicles, and more explosions than you can register.

Rockstar Games revealed the GTA Online: San Andreas Mercenaries trailer via its official website, with a description that takes you through what you can expect from the new content. "Join up with expert pilot and skilled merc Charlie Reed to lead his new outfit — the Los Santos Angels," says the description.

The huge expansion promises you'll take on "a series of dangerous counter operations to disarm and disrupt the ruthless forces of Merryweather Security, with the chance for you and your friends to earn your own fortunes along the way."

When is San Andreas Mercenaries coming out?

The new free update is set to launch on June 13 for GTA Online across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, so don't have long to wait before you can get in there and blow up even more s**t than usual.

Rockstar has teased more news to come, as well as "details on how we're continuing to build on and enhance the overall GTA Online experience with San Andreas Mercenaries." As players get more impatient for GTA 6, it remains to be seen what will happen with GTA Online or whether we'll get a new version.

San Andreas Mercenaries is a good-looking pack to pile on top of the rest of the content that GTA Online has to offer, and though it doesn't connect much to the classic game as the title indicates, it still looks like a good time regardless.
