Rockstar Games might be pretty airtight when it comes to video games releases, but that doesn't mean that bugs and glitches can't slip through the cracks.

GTA Online isn't immune to problems that can ruin player experiences, especially when it comes to races and minigames - accentuating their frustration by dishing out losses to players.

But now, the losses are starting to feel much more material. A rampant GTA Online glitch is robbing players of their most prized possessions by deleting your most valuable cars from the garage.

Fans were excited as ever to see that the San Andreas Mercenaries update had launched in GTA Online, and raced to get the game updated. Although it's a pretty explosive affair that gives us something new after a decade of the online multiplayer, little did they know what horrors awaited them.

A brand-new glitch came with the update and has latched to the insurance policies of cars (especially the incredibly expensive ones to buy back after they're destroyed). This renders the policies useless, meaning they're destroyed forever.

The new update has erased the insurance policies of many cars seemingly at random, meaning that players have been forced to double-check their policies on their cars. If they're not assigned or wiped as a result of the bug, they'll be gone forever as soon as your lobby's resident d**khead blows it up.

Rockstar responds to car-robbing glitch

Thankfully it seems like Rockstar Games is on the case, as it has issued a statement via Twitter to reassure players that the glitch is coming under the lens behind the scenes.

Considering some of the estimated missing car values sit at around $8 million in-game dollars, it's a major loss. As a 10 million Shark Card costs $99.99 of real-world money, this glitch is hitting some of us hard in the pocket.

It's reassuring that Rockstar is supposedly working on something of a fix, but it doesn't mean much to those who have already lost their favourite cars, bikes, and dune buggies. Rest in peace as your fave go to the scrapheap in the sky.
