If you thought Ryan Hurst's large and in charge Thor was the "biggest boy" in God of War: Ragnarok, get ready to bow down to Tyr. 2021 has been a strange year for giant beings dominating the gaming scene, with Tyr following in the colossal footsteps of Resident Evil's Lady Dimitrescu and Destiny 2's even bigger Witch Queen.

Tyr might not match up to his female friends, but the action-packed Ragnarok trailer shows that he's dwarfed Kratos in a big way. The Ghost of Sparta is back to swing his Leviathan Axe at the gods and monsters of Norse mythology, however, Odin's son is sure to give Kratos a run for his money. It didn't take long, but Tyr is effectively our very own Lady D.

How tall is Tyr in God of War?

Alongside Thor dominating the first Ragnarok trailer, the moment Tyr stands up and puts Kratos in his shadow has been a major talking point. Away from the leading ladies of games this year, someone has crunched the numbers and realised Tyr isn't actually as tall as you might expect.

The official PlayStation account asked the important questions to Sony Santa Monica Studio, with the Ragnarok developer confirming the towering Tyr stands at 8'5". For context, that makes him just shy of Robert Wadlow - the tallest living human in history at 8'11".

Unfortunately for Tyr, that puts him a way off Lady Alcina Dimitrescu, who is a whopping 9'6". All of the above are a country mile away from the Witch Queen's 21 ft. Still, Tyr's height makes him taller than Waluigi is 7'7" but shorter than Bowser's 8'7" and Faust from Guilty Gear's 9'4".

What's Tyr's story in God of War: Ragnarok?

Looking at Norse mythology, we can try and work out what will happen to Tyr in Ragnarok. The Norse God of War has a noble streak, and even lost his arm trying to save his people. As the son of Odin and half-brother of Thor, we're expecting Tyr to butt heads with these two - who are poised to be the "villains" of Ragnarok. It's also likely that Tyr is going to try and topple daddy dearest and take his place.

Then again, the God of War games are known for their tragic twists. As well as saying SSM missed out on the opportunity to call the title Gods of War, some think it's the perfect opportunity for Tyr to perish and Kratos to take his place as the new Norse God of War. Whatever happens, we know Ragnarok is the end of the current story.

Who would win a battle all these towering terrors though? We like to imagine some alternate reality where Tyr crosses paths with Lady Dimitrescu and her razor claws. Would his prowess as the God of War really match up to the villainous vampire? Hopefully, we'll get to see them both in some far-off Smash Bros. title.
