Eddie Brock — aka Venom — is one of Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 4’s featured skins.

Venom has finally arrived. Sure, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Black Widow (Snow Suit) are nice, but Venom is undoubtedly the skin most players have been yearning for.

The process of unlocking Venom is different from most of the other Marvel-themed skins. No amount of XP or challenges will earn you Venom. Venom is tied to his own personal Fortnite tournament titled the Venom Cup. Players must battle it out and come out victorious if they wish to play as Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis.

In this guide, we will highlight exactly how to unlock the Venom skin and the rest of the set. Additionally, we’ll go over the rumoured Black Panther and Captain Marvel skins and when they may appear in the Item Shop.

Unlocking Venom

Unlike many of the other Marvel heroes and villains, Venom can not be unlocked through Battle Pass tiers or completing challenges. Initially, the only way to acquire the skin is by participating in the Venom Cup.

The Venom Cup is part of a new tournament series revolving around the Marvel Knockout limited-time mode (LTM). This game mode utilises a specific set of rules and settings involving the usage of the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Mythic abilities.

The Daredevil Cup and Ghost Rider Cup were formatted as Trios tournaments. The Black Widow Cup and the Venom Cup will run as Duo tournaments.

Not only must players participate in the Venom Cup, but they must also place within a certain threshold in the standings to unlock this special skin. The required placements are as follows:

Europe – Top 1,200

NA East – Top 750

NA West – Top 300

Brazil – Top 300

Asia – Top 150

Oceania – Top 150

Middle East – Top 150

Players in these regions that meet the requirements will be gifted the Venom skin completely free. Unlike the other three Marvel Knockout Super Series cups, players will have multiple chances to unlock Venom. Players that don’t qualify in the first heat will have a second opportunity a few hours later. The Venom Cup will be held from November 18-19.

What Happened to Black Panther and Captain Marvel?

Based on a ton of leaks and speculation, players assumed that Black Panther and Captain Marvel would also be joining the Fortnite cast. Black Panther already has his own point of interest (POI) and Mythic ability, after all. However, it looks like the release of these two legendary heroes has been put on hold.

In Captain Marvel’s case, it’s assumed that the skin was supposed to correlate with the release of the new Captain Marvel movie. Originally, the Captain Marvel film was scheduled to release on November 21. However, the film has since been delayed until late December. With the film’s release on hold, the skin was likely put aside for now as well.

The Black Panther skin release was met with a tragic twist with the passing of the renowned Black Panther actor, Chadwick Boseman. With Boseman’s passing, it wouldn’t be right for Epic Games to profit from a skin in his likeness. For that obvious reason, the Black Panther skin will remain in the vault for the time being.

There’s a decent chance these skins find their way into the Item Shop down the line, but for now, the release date is pending.

Additional Ways of Unlocking the Venom Skin

Thankfully for the non-sweats out there, placing in the Venom Cup is not the only way to unlock the Venom skin. Venom will be made available in the Item Shop following the completion of the Venom Cup.

The Venom skin will enter the Item Shop sometime after the conclusion of the tournament. In Ghost Rider, Black Widow (Snow Suit), and Daredevil’s case, the skin was placed in the Item Shop just three to four days later. Early leaks have Venom entering the Item Shop on Saturday, November 21. Until then, Venom will be exclusive to the Venom Cup champions.

How Much Will Venom Cost?

Based on Fortnite's Item Shop history, Venom will probably be priced at 1,500 V-Bucks. Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Black Widow (Snow Suit) were all released in the Item Shop for this same price. Epic Games tend to follow the same pattern and keep its prices standardised.

However, Venom’s price may end up being a bit inflated. As we’ll touch on later, Venom comes with a built-in pickaxe and emote. It’s yet to be seen whether these additions will be sold separately or exclusively bundled together. If it’s the ladder, expect Venom to be priced at 2,000 V-Bucks minimum.

Venom fans looking to add the ominous symbiote to their collection should prepare ahead of time. Have the V-Bucks ready and waiting on your account following the conclusion of the Venom Cup. Additionally, make sure to log in and check the Item Shop on November 21. Otherwise, players may risk missing Venom while he’s up for sale.

Worst case scenario, Venom will likely return later in the season. Epic Games would be tossing away money if they chose to lock these skins away after one appearance. The tendrilled creature will almost certainly be back. Toward the end of the season, Epic Games might even throw Venom in with a bundle of other Marvel Knockout Super Series heroes/villains. We've seen it before.

Will There be a Venom Glider, Pickaxe, and Back bling?

When Venom does finally arrive in the Item Shop, he won’t be alone. Venom’s pickaxe, back bling and a Venom exclusive emote have been found in the game files. The full Venom Bundle includes:

  • Venom Outfit
  • We Are Venom Emote
  • Tendril Tote Back Bling
  • Symbiote Slasher Pickaxe

If it’s anything like the Marvel Knockout Super Series Bundles, the Venom Bundle will allow players to purchase the full set for a discounted price. In Ghost Rider’s case, the Ghost Rider pickaxe and glider were available separately for 1,200 V-Bucks each while the Ghost Rider wrap went for 500 V-Bucks. However, the pickaxe, glider, wrap, and skin could be purchased in a bundle for just 2,600 V-Bucks. If the goal is to complete the whole set, this would save 1,800 V-Bucks.

It’s refreshing to see the different methods of unlocking Eddie Brock’s alter ego. Venom can be unlocked for free by those willing to put in the effort. Otherwise, Venom will be purchasable in the Item Shop for a reasonable price. Either way, Make sure to play at least one match of the Venom Cup to unlock the Nexus War Glider. Finally, keep an eye out for more information related to the upcoming $1 Million Super Cup scheduled for November 21. Who knows, other mystery Marvel heroes and villains could be on their way!
