It looks like it's going to be a real David versus Goliath story in the next season of Fortnite, as Chapter 5 Season 2 is going all in on the mythology of gods and monsters. While Chapter 5 Season 1 didn't have the strongest theme, Epic Games is going hard on the next refresh.

We've already seen a potential Battle Pass leak showing us which Mount Olympus alumni could be flying into battle, but as the devs get ready to unveil a whole new Fortnite, it seems the joke's on us... for now. Even though the game's dataminers are some of the best out there, everyone gets it wrong sometimes.

Fortnite's Titan Hand event has made fools of us all

Many thought the Titan Hand event would be going live on February 29 at 9am PST/12pm EST/5pm GMT. We'd seen leaks of a god-like hand bursting through the crater near Ruined Reels, with leakers claiming there will be a live event where we work together to release Pandora's Box.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is supposedly releasing around March 8, and while it doesn't look like there will be a massive end-of-season live event like Chapter 2 Season 4's Galactus event, the tease of the next season is starting early.

Posting on Twitter, Fortnite dev Evanonsaurus warned, "Perhaps you shouldn’t trust everything dataminers say." Whether this was always the case or Epic decided to move the event to stick a Titan-sized middle finger to us, it's all quite hilarious.

Fortnite fans are fuming

While there are all the usual complaints about people bunking off school or work to play the Titan Hand event, remember that it was never actually confirmed for a specific time. You can't be annoyed at Epic for this one.

One disgruntled gamer wrote, "We have lives to live and a countdown timer would be appreciated. IDK about others but I'm not clocking in every hour of every day on a whim," while another added, "I give up on the fortnite titan hand it still not there I just wasted my time this is dumb." A third said, "This is the most busted datamine/leak 💀."

It's clear something is going on by Ruined Reels, with the latest update now adding lava to the cracks. Unfortunately, Epic hasn't given us a concrete release time, meaning we're left checking every hour. If we were the devs, we'd drop the Titan Hand when everyone least expects it.
