Five Nights At Freddy's Fortnite Crossover Teased By Leak

Get ready for a very different kind of teddy bear's picnic because it looks like we could be getting a Five Nights at Freddy's Fortnite crossover. As players dive off the Battle Bus in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, the hunter-packed "Zero Point" season has become a gangster's paradise for mercenaries and hunters. Following the Battle Pass drop of The Mandalorian's Din Djarin, it's been a whistle-stop tour through the likes of God of War's Kratos, Halo's Master Chief, The Walking Dead, a secret Predator skin, The Terminator, and (most recently) G.I. Joe.

Even as we head into the last full month of the current season, Epic still has a few surprises up its sleeve and could be hiding a furry favourite in plain sight. Scott Cawthorn's horror franchise has been slashing its way into our lives since 2014, and with a next-gen game planned for later this year, the timing's perfect to add Freddy Fazzbear to Fortnite. For those who haven't already played the point-and-click horror that is Five Nights at Freddy's, you've got just enough time before he potentially lands on the Fortnite map.

What's the Five Nights At Freddy's Fortnite Crossover?

According to noted Fortnite leaker HYPEX, a Five Nights at Freddy's Fortnite crossover could be on the way to bring those animatronic monsters to life on the famous battle royale map. In the explainer, HYPEX points to a hidden skin hiding within the bowels of the game files, going under the codename "FrenchFry". Given that Tyler "Ninja" Blevins' skin was codenames "TourBus", these cryptic names don't exactly give much away apart from the capitalised letters being a potential nod to who it is. HYPEX is convinced Freddy is on the way.

It's a bit of a leap, but the fact the file is called FrenchFry could be a major clue that it's Freddy Faazzbear. Unless we're immortalising the late Farrah Fawcett for a Charlie's Angels crossover, we're totally on board with the idea of FNaF crossover. Elsewhere, there's a decrypted file of a new footsteps feature. The crux of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise is using stealth to avoid being butchered by rogue robots, so it's likely this can play into that. Is one of the current POIs about to be turned into some haunted house attraction?

Will a Five Nights at Freddy's Fortnite crossover happen?

The final piece of the puzzle is a decrypted audio file, playing ominous fairground music that wouldn't look out of place in the Freddyverse. What's important to remember is that not every teased Fortnite skin turns out to be the goldmine we'd hoped for. After Crystal Dynamics seemed to tease a Lara Croft skin for Chapter 2 Season 5, the window came and went, with the Tomb Raider heroine failing to put in an appearance. Just like the hearsay and rumours, we could be barking up the wrong tree with Freddy.

Given that Five Nights at Freddy's started out in the Chuck E. Cheese-inspired Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, the most likely POI to get a revamp and bring Freddy to life would be Tomato Town's Pizza Pit. Then again, we're nowhere near Halloween - which would be the most likely time you'd expect a Five Nights at Freddy's Fortnite crossover. Everyone loves the annual Fortnitemares event, and it's easy to imagine Freddy slotting in there. Is it a case of Epic has really got the jump on this year's spooky spectacular?

Perhaps the only plus point is the fact Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is due for release in early 2021. Cawthorn could be starting his marketing assault by teasing Freddy in-game to hype his latest release. Only recently, players were disappointed that we still haven't had any gameplay footage for Security Breach, meaning a well-timed Fortnite crossover could be a lucrative move for both sides.

Is this fearsome fuzzball really on the way, or is a Five Nights at Freddy's crossover a not-so-Happy Meal we'll never get to taste in Fortnite
