V-Bucks make the world go round in Fortnite, but there are worrying reports that the battle royale behemoth's very infrastructure could be crumbling. Apparently, players are being hit with V-Bucks debt after making the most of an Xbox exploit.

While the likes of Call of Duty and Apex Legends make their dollar off the back of selling you pointless skins based on stoned sloths or Final Fantasy Buster Swords, no one does it quite like Fortnite. The free-to-play game has always made bank flogging us Mr. Meeseeks, Master Splinter, or MrBeast.

Fortnite players report V-Bucks debt

Over on Twitter, there are reports of Fortnite fans being struck by 'V-Bucks debt' thanks to a regional exploit. By purchasing Argentinian V-Bucks, you were able to nab around 200k V-Bucks on Xbox for $100. This is obviously far cheaper than what Epic normally charges for its in-game currency in most regions.

Similar exploits have been found before, with Epic Games warning they can get you banned. Instead, the latest seems that Fortnite overlords are stripping you of your precious V-Bucks and leaving you indebted to them. Yikes, that's a lot of months of Fortnite Crew for nothing.

In the past, we've been told to just leave V-Bucks in our account if we think something is wrong, but some of you have reportedly been tempted by the latest exploit to try and trick the system - hitting you hard in the pocket.

Fortnite fans don't have much sympathy for V-Bucks cheats

As you can imagine, there's not much sympathy in the replies, going with the old mantra that cheaters never prosper. Alongside plenty of comments saying "deserved," someone else added, "I'm sorry, but the concept of being in Vbucks debt is incredibly funny."

Another said, "Vbucks debt is insane. Imagine having to buy 60 dollars worth of Vbucks just so you're ABLE to buy stuff in the item shop 😭" Others were more sympathetic and suggested that a game with as much money as Fortnite shouldn't be putting its players into V-Bucks debt.

Either way, the next time you see a TikTok about a V-Bucks exploit to get rich quickly, you might want to think twice. It's not just the banks we owe money to, but imagine owing hundreds in digital currency just because you wanted to play as The Weeknd.
