For a relatively simple battle royale shooter, there's a hell of a lot of lore in Fortnite. With this comes a host of mysteries like the meaning of the Stone Man, what happened to the Seven, and why there's a tiny chair on the map. Among them is the mystery of the Bus Driver, the anonymous pilot who flies us into battle.

While most of us jump into Fortnite with our friends, hoping to blast the living snot out of randoms and nab a Victory Crown, others are much more invested in its lore. We've had cubes, aliens, abductions, and vampires, with comic books expanding the story even more. Still, we're no closer to meeting the Bus Driver

Fortnite fans think they've figured out who the Bus Driver is

Over on Reddit, someone asked, "Will there ever be a revealing of who drives the Battle Bus? Possible end game content if that’s ever a thing? Is there any lore surrounding this topic?" It has sparked plenty of interest among players, who've shared their own musings.

With Fortnite's lore starting in Save the World, it's led to theories that the mode's Lars is the driver of the Battle Bus. With quotes like "Fill er up if you'd be so kind," "Need to get back up in those clouds," and "Find and deploy the atlas," it's a solid suggestion.

Unfortunately, Epic seems destined to resign Save the World to the history books. While Battle Royale and STW were once connected in their lore, it's largely been abandoned as the former took over in terms of popularity. Whether Lars is the Bus Driver or not, future BR seasons could make it canon.

While the Bus Driver's identity has joined the other big Fortnite mysteries, it wasn't always the case. Concept art for the game shows a haunting troll as the Bus Driver, but no specific troll character has been seen since. Whether that was a placeholder or the Bus Driver was supposed to be more prominent is unclear.

Farmer Steel gave us a hint of their identity, telling players to "respect our elders" during a 'Thank the Bus Driver' quest. This would suggest an older person and seemingly count Lars out, but to be honest, does it really matter? Epic has enough on its hands dishing out new content and battling bugs to be worried about who's behind the wheel of the Battle Bus.
