Battlefield 2042 is officially coming, and with the announcement being made official earlier this month, leaks were sure to follow.

The latest comes from a reliable insider, Tom Henderson, who took to Twitter to write: "Hazard Zone will morph into a more traditional Battle Royale if it doesn't "take off" #BATTLEFIELD2042"

DICE has confirmed that there is going to be a mode called Hazard Zone, and details surrounding exactly what that will entail are scarce. But if Henderson is to be believed, they're not too sure on how well it will be received by gamers, and have a back-up plan of a BR - just in case.

Will Battlefield 2042 Have A Sandbox Mode?

According to the same leaker, a sandbox mode called ‘BattleHub’ is on its way to the game.

During a recent video, Henderson said that BattleHub is going to be the “ultimate sandbox experience”. The official Battlefield website mentions a new mode coming to the game, while leaving its title redacted. The site added that it was - “created as a love letter to our core fans, a new way to play Battlefield is coming. Discover unexpected battles and enter the wide universe of Battlefield with this experience, which will be shown in detail at EA Play Live on July 22.”

What Else Do We Know About Battlefield 2042?

Apparently, we're going to have to get used to playing against bots. On the Battlefield Briefing EA Answers Page, DICE explained how bots will come into play during matchmaking. Despite the game being able to support 128 players in a match, EA confirmed the use of AI Soldiers, saying: "Also new is the introduction of AI Soldiers (Artificial Intelligence) to the series. As a multiplayer-only experience, it’s important for us to let you play Battlefield 2042 when and how you want".

They added that we will enjoy a co-op experience that "allows you to play together with friends, against AI soldiers". DICE says there's even a solo version for playing on your own as it adds, "If you wish to perfect your skills for multiplayer, you can even play alone against AI soldiers".
