Battlefield 4’s Servers Are Struggling To Keep Up Following 2042 Announcement
Battlefield 2042 has garnered a lot of hype, arguably the most excitement the series has seen in many years. The constant rumours and leaks prior to revealing gave the as-then untitled Battlefield title a wave of frantic hype that hasn’t been seen in some time, especially for a game of the latest generation of gaming.
The title was expected to exemplify exactly what it means for a game to be “next-gen”, and the game’s reveal and gameplay display at E3 together made the game a definite AAA title to watch out for. And it looks like that very hype has manifested in-game, much to the stress of Battlefield’s servers.
Battlefield 4’s Servers Fight To Stay Up
In the face of the excitement for Battlefield 2042, players have decided to revisit the series in a way that has put a surprising amount of strain on EA’s servers. Queue times for Battlefield 4 have ramped up severely, especially on the West Coast of America. In response to the immense fan clamouring to get into Battlefield games, EA has stated that they’re increasing their server capacity and will be paying close attention to server performance.
“We were absolutely blown away by your excitement and reactions to the recent Battlefield 2042 reveal”, EA has said in an official post on the “Answers” page on their official website. “Since then, many of you have jumped back into Battlefield 4 to already get a taste of the return to all-out-warfare. We’ve been monitoring your experience and noticed queue times in the US West region were far longer than in other regions. Good news, we’ve increased server capacity for this region - you can expect less waiting, and more playing.”
The excitement for the new title couldn’t be clearer - and frankly, judging by the footage of the game we’ve seen so far, we can’t fault players for jumping back in.
