Marvel’s Avengers has had a bit of a bumpy ride from announcement to now. Many expected the game to reach the dizzying heights of quality that Marvel’s Spider-Man managed, only to be let down by middling critical reviews and a lifespan that disappointed a lot of fans. The recent free weekend brought a lot of new fans to the title, but now, the game is relying on its DLC promises to give fans the experience they’d hoped for. Kamala Khan deserved better.

As the War For Wakanda DLC heads over to spice up the game, it’s got fans thinking about the rest of the game’s extra content, and now the question has arisen - where’s the Spider-Man content we were promised?

Thankfully, developers have come through with some kind of answer. And the bottom line is - it’s still on its way.

If the developers of Marvel’s Avengers are anything to go by, it looks like we won’t actually have that long a wait until we get to step into the shoes of our favourite web-slinger in the game. Fans were worried that the radio silence on the character meant ihis development was doomed, but we’ve thankfully been assured otherwise.

During an interview with CBR, Senior Designer Scott Walters made sure to point out that Spidey wasn’t being cast aside. “Right now, our focus is definitely Wakanda, which is our capstone for the roadmap that we shared”, he said. “Spider-Man, we’ve always planned to have that be a 2021 release, and we’re still on track for that. We’ll have more announcements later on.”

The hype for Spider-Man’s arrival in Marvel’s Avengers is something that’s kept fans hanging onto the game - even though it isn't connected to Marvel’s Spider-Man. It’s unlikely that the game will rope in many new fans through the DLC, as with reduced prices and free weekends, there’s every chance that Marvel fans would have jumped at the chance.

For those who found a good time in Marvel’s Avengers, they're likely to swing back around for Spider-Man. If anything is set to bring the hype back to the game, it’s the War For Wakanda DLC, but we’ll have to wait and see the kind of excitement it can bring back to the game on August 17.

Even though the upcoming Wakanda DLC is a big point of excitement for the game, Marvel’s Avengers in an unpredictable turn, could hinge on Spider-Man. Whether or not it can bring a new wave of players to the game remains to be seen, but either way, we’ll be excited to see our favourite web-slinger once again.
