Marvel’s Avengers had quite a dramatic reveal. The game’s marketing promised a new superhero experience akin to that of Marvel’s Spider-Man, but its launch revealed some faults, and its critical reception kept a lot of fans from completely engaging with it, some not even buying the game at all.

It put the game in danger a bit, and even though Marvel’s Avengers still has its superfans, there sadly weren’t as many of them as developers Crystal Dynamics had hoped. But now, players will get a chance to give the game a spin completely for free very soon.

Perfect for those who didn’t get around to giving Marvel’s Avengers a try, the game is set to be getting a free-play weekend, allowing for all of the game’s launch and post-launch content to be available to players for free.

The week of free play is available on PS4, PS5, Steam and Stadia, sadly leaving Xbox users out in the cold, but the weekend is at least offering some players a first go at the game that had a bit of an unfair hype drop-off.

And thankfully, the free weekend is coming very soon.

As announced in a tweet from the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter page, the event is coming between July 29 and August 1 - this weekend. You’ll have access to everything the game has to offer for these few days, so make the most of it and jump in as soon as you can when the event kicks off this Thursday.

Hopefully this weekend will bring a bigger player base to the title, and give it a little shot of life before its War For Wakanda DLC releases this August. It’s hard to frown at a chance to smash stuff to bits as Hulk, to be honest, so we’ll see you on the Quinjet!
