Pro Settings for Apex Legends

Apex Settings - TSM ImperialHal

Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen is a member of the legendary Team SoloMid (TSM) pro team. TSM is known for their domination of Apex Legends esports. As the TSM trio's leader, ImperialHal is the highest-earning Apex Legends player of all-time. ImperialHal has earned over $100K throughout his Apex Legends pro career.

With such incredible accolades under his belt, Apex Legends players are left wondering just how ImperialHal does it. In particular, what settings and equipment does he use? Not everyone can have ImperialHal's skill, but his settings and equipment can surely be imitated.

Readers should take note of a few key points. TSM is sponsored by Logitech. This explains ImperialHal's exclusive use of Logitech equipment. Since we last updated this piece, ImperialHal has changed his keybinds for Ultimate ability and Interact. Now, these two inputs are closer to the WASD keys. Furthermore, ImperialHal has made multiple changes to his peripherals and video settings. Pros are constantly tinkering with their settings in hopes of gaining an edge and competing to the best of their ability.

Overall, ImperialHal uses slow but precise settings. 400 DPI is about as low as it gets. Most other pros use 800 DPI coupled with high mouse sensitivity. The 400 DPI allows ImperialHal to be extremely precise with his mouse movements. High DPI and mouse sensitivity have their advantages, but without control, they're meaningless.

Apex Settings - dizzy

While Coby “dizzy” Meadows may no longer actively play Apex Legends, there is no denying that he was the undisputed best player during the game’s early stages. dizzy came out of nowhere and quickly rose to fame in the Apex Legends community. dizzy was a pubstomping machine before Ninja took notice and invited him to team up for the first Twitch Rivals Challenge. That opportunity was all dizzy would need; dizzy emphatically carried the team. From there, dizzy went on to win every single Apex Legends Code Red tournament. The success garnered dizzy an invite to join NRG Esports.

Unfortunately, dizzy retired from competitive Apex Legends in December of 2019 citing burnout and personal issues. In dizzy’s short career, he earned over $80K. If he hadn’t called it quits, dizzy might still be the face of competitive Apex Legends.

dizzy plays on relatively high mouse settings compared to most pros. The 800 DPI coupled with a 2.5 mouse sensitivity is what allows dizzy to hit the crazy flick shots he’s known for. Settings this high can be detrimental to the average player. However, if you have the hand-eye coordination to pull it off, these mouse settings can bring you to the next level.

dizzy made it a point to make sure all of his video settings are either off or disabled. In dizzy’s own words, “in this game [Apex Legends], you just want frames per second (FPS).” Using the lowest settings allows dizzy to maximise his FPS.

Apex Settings - Snip3down

Eric "Snipe3down" Wrona is one of the most accomplished esports players of all-time. Snip3down is a 24x Halo Champion, earning over $300K playing competitive Halo before moving on to Apex Legends. Snipe3down's talent transferred well. Snip3down won a silver medal at the X Games EXP Invitational, coming second only to TSM. As a bonus, Snip3down earned the Apex Predator award for the most total kills at the event. Paired with his gold medal from the Halo X Games event, Snip3down is the only individual in the entire world to have earned an X Games medal in two different titles.

All of this was done using a controller. Backed up by the facts stated above, there is a solid argument to be made that Snip3down is the greatest controller player ever. Let's analyse the settings used by the Apex Legends stand-out controller player.

Snip3down uses very safe and basic controller settings for his personal Apex Legends pro settings. A sensitivity range of 3-5 is extremely average. This sensitivity range keeps Snip3down's aim precise but doesn't leave him stuck in place like a statue. Snip3down keeps the Deadzone small to allow full control over his aim and movement.

Readers may be surprised to find that Snip3down plays on the Default stick layout. However, there is more to it than meets the eye. Snip3down is known for playing "Claw". Claw grip is where players hold the controller in a way that their index finger is on the ABXY buttons, and their middle finger is placed on the trigger. The added finger allows players to jump and crouch without taking their thumb off the right stick. Being able to aim while jumping and crouching is crucial at high levels of play.

Players that don't want to switch to Claw can achieve the same benefits through a Scuf or Xbox Elite controller. These controllers come with paddles attached. The paddles can be rebound to whichever buttons the user would like.

Unfortunately, Snip3down has never publicly revealed his peripherals or video settings.

Albralelie Apex Legends Settings

Apex Settings - Albralelie

Mac "Albralelie" Kenzie Beckwith was part of the TSM dynasty that reigned uncontested in the early days of the Apex Legends esports scene. Albralelie is only behind ImperialHal in terms of earnings from Apex Legends.

Albralelie focuses on content creation and streaming nowadays, but still competes professionally for Team Liquid in his spare time. Albralelie is a jack of all trades, able to dominate the competition on both mouse and keyboard and controller. Albralelie is equally skilled on both input methods.

Albralelie is considered one of the most mechanically gifted players in all of Apex Legends.

In terms of sensitivity, Albralelie is on the extreme high end. His 1,200 DPI is triple the DPI of ImperialHal. Very rarely do you see a pro player use such a high DPI. Additionally, Albralelie’s controller sensitivity is off the charts. For most humans, this high of a sensitivity would make aiming accurately near impossible. However, Albralelie is what the kids call “cracked”.

Unlike Snip3down, Albralelie does not play claw while using a controller. To compensate Albralelie uses a Scuf Impact controller with all four paddles attached. The far right paddle is bound to slide, far left is melee, the middle-left paddle is interact, and the last paddle is unbound.

Lastly, readers may notice Albralelie’s brightness is set to only 30%. Albralelie claims that high brightness levels hurt his eyes. This small outlier just further affirms the fact that settings are all personal preference. Pro settings should be a guide, not the law. Find what works best for you.

We hope these Apex Legends pro settings can be of use to you. These are four distinct pros that have all found immense success in their own way. If you're struggling to find settings that work, try some of these out. You'll be playing like a pro before you know it.
