If you've grown fond of your horse in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, then we're happy to show you how you can transfer it from that game to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom so that you can continue to embark on your adventure across Hyrule with your trusty steed.

If you have a beloved horse companion from Breath of the Wild and need to know how to import the horse to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, keep reading and we'll tell you how to get your favourite horses in the game.

To get your horses from Breath of the Wild, all you must do is have an existing Breath of the Wild save file on your console and the horses from the save file will automatically be added to any stable you visit in Tears of the Kingdom.

Furthermore, bond levels will also carry over to the new game, meaning you won't have to start from scratch.

Now you're free to explore the vast open world of Tears of the Kingdom, from the back of your trusty steed.

Does save data carry over to ToTK?

One of the special features of Breath of the Wild was the ability to find wild horses, tame them, and build up a relationship with them over time, increasing their key stats as you develop a bond with them.

As such, there may be specific horses in the game that you've grown attached to over your many hours of gameplay. The thought of starting the process again on a new horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may seem arduous, and even a little insensitive to your previous horse companions.

Luckily, some saved data does carry over to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and it is possible to see your previous horses in the game.
