This points to the idea that a Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom expansion pass is not likely to be on the way. Nintendo could indeed reveal it in a few months, or even years afterwards, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but there's no evidence for it in the game.

Unfortunately, these efforts have been in vain. Nintendo sent cease and desist letters to the mod creators. It would be cool if Nintendo could officially bring this feature into the massive open-world title.
This multiplayer mode could be its own separate entity like Ghost of Tsushima Legends, in which you go on missions together with friends.
If there is ever a Tears of the Kingdom expansion pass, it will likely be some kind of story content or DLC costumes. It would be great to see Link cosplaying as other Nintendo characters like Breath of the Wild's Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Rex outfit.
