Lost Ark gems allow you to directly increase the damage of abilities and alter them to become more useful to your specific build. Once you hit the end-game of Lost Ark, there are many ways you can continue to increase your power and specialise your builds, with gems being just one example. It can be a little much to unwrap once you get to a high level due to all the elements that are introduced, so read on to see how Lost Ark gems work.

  • Are you the type of player who loves to gather all collectibles? Then our Lost Ark Mokoko Seeds guide is perfect.

The gem system isn't unlocked until well past combat level 50, and if you try to access the gem tab on the inventory, it will tell you to finish The Final Report quest first. Gems are a method of giving your character a power boost, as they directly increase your damage or cooldowns. They have to be attached to active skills to do this, but you can only have one damage gem and cooldown gem per skill. The maximum amount of gems that can be equipped is 11, and they have tiers and levels associated with them.

Levels improve the gem, whereas tiers are associated with the area you are in, so for example, a tier two gem works best in a tier two area. You can level up the gems by combining three of the same level, and they range from level one to level ten, where the bonuses reach up to 40% extra damage and 20% cooldown reduction. Lastly, if you don't like the skill a gem has, you can re-roll it.

  • The Lost Ark Islands are home to a host of new content like the Island Token collectibles.

Lost Ark gems have a lot of RNG associated with them, so doing the following activities isn't always guaranteed to reward you gems, but they are the confirmed places that these will drop. These are:

  • Completing Chaos dungeons
  • Completing the Boss Rush activity
  • Defeating world bosses and field bosses
  • Taking part in daily events on the events screen
  • Purchasing them with Lost Ark gold from the auction house

Remember that gems are connected to the skills you have, so you aren't guaranteed to earn the exact gems you want from these, but you still have the option to re-roll them. You can also sell them to buy the ones you need from other players, so you still have options even if the drops aren't going your way.

Re-rolling is done by heading to the Jeweller vendor in any major city. Interact with them and just click the re-roll effect and pick your gem. Re-rolling gems guarantees it will pick up a skill for your class, so it's worth it with gems you have acquired for other classes. You can also repeat this process until you get the exact skill you want, but it does cost silver and the price will scale with the higher level gems.

That's our primer on Lost Ark gems, and now you know where to collect them and how to use them effectively.

Make sure to consult our Lost Ark mount list to see which animals, beasts, or vehicles you want to use.
