The Elden Ring Blessing of Despair ending is the outright bad ending, causing you to curse all the inhabitants of the Lands Between to eternal despair as Omens. The Elden Ring endings usually require you to finish specific quests, with this ending coming about after you complete the loathsome Dung Eater questline. So, if you're up for being a complete POS, check out how to earn the Elden Ring Blessing of Despair ending.

The Elden Ring Blessing of Despair ending can be earned after progressing through the Elden Ring Dung Eater quest to completion, which allows you to grab the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse. Once you've acquired this item you won't need to take any steps until the very final moments of the game, but it's worth noting that progressing too far into the game will cut you off from finishing the quest. This means you cannot progress past the Fire Giant and go to Crumbling Farum Azula until you have claimed all five Seedbed Curses during the final part of the quest. The guide linked above will help you follow all the steps you need to get the rune from Dung Eater.

Once you've received the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, get to the very end of the game and finish the Elden Beast fight. You'll then be transported into an arena with the fractured corpse of Marika. Interacting with her will allow you to make your final decision by mending the Elden Ring, so select the option to use the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, and the cutscene for the Blessing of Despair ending will begin. For a breakdown of what exactly occurs in this ending and the rest, check out our Elden Ring endings breakdown.

That's our primer on how to get the Elden Ring Blessing of Despair ending, and now you know to complete Dung Eater's quest to grab the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

Looking for another quest to get stuck into? Why not check out the Elden Ring Corhyn quest for the chance at another alternate ending.
