Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion may be one of the most anticipated DLCs of all time, but what people really want to know (myself included) is how many bosses can we expect to take on during our visit to The Land of Shadow.

Elden Ring's unprecedented success has attracted a lot of gamers to the Soulslike genre, which is notorious for its focus on difficult boss encounters. And with the game's upcoming DLC now confirmed for June 21, we're now starting to learn much more.

How many bosses could be in Shadow of the Erdtree?

According to a Eurogamer interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki, Shadow of the Erdtree will have "over ten new boss fights" for players to tackle.

Obviously, this isn't an exact figure and we don't know if the total amount will be closer to ten or higher, but it does help us learn more about what to expect.

To some Elden Ring fans, this may seem like only a few compared to the base game's 168 bosses, however, there were lots of repeat bosses and a much larger open-world area to fill out with them. The Land of Shadow, on the other hand, is confirmed to be closer to the size of Limgrave in the same interview.

Even the original Dark Souls only had 13 bosses, but they were spaced out more to make each one feel like an event, which could be the case here.

Some of the bosses were shown off during the gameplay trailer that debuted on February 21, with one being confirmed as Messmer the Impaler, as they have their own statue in the Collector's Edition.

I'll update this guide once more details about the bosses in the expansion arrive, including their names and how many there are when an exact figure is revealed.
