Dragon Age 4 is all that fans can talk about because boy has it been a long time coming. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Dragon Age 4, including its top-secret development, however, fans still can't wait to step back into Thedas.

After the exciting reveal of the Dragon Age 4 teaser trailer during the 2018 Game Awards and the ominous mention of The Dread Wolf, our interest is piqued. Without further ado, here's everything we know so far about Dragon Age 4, including trailers, The Dread Wolf, and more.

What do we know about Dragon Age 4?

There is no confirmed Dragon Age 4 launch window so far, however, all signs pointing to it potentially being released in 2023 (via GamesBeat) were wrong. If so, this would make it five years since the upcoming instalment to the Dragon Age franchise was first announced during The Game Awards in 2018. It's also believed that BioWare, the game's developer, is waiting to get Dragon Age 4 finished in 2023 before moving on to the new instalment in its other mammoth game franchise, Mass Effect

Writing for GamesBeat, Jeff Grubb claimed that "sources familiar with the fantasy role-playing adventure confirm the game is on track for release in 2023. When I reached out to EA about the release date, a spokesperson says the company hasn’t announced the date and has no plans to share it yet."

As with most rumours, it's best to take this date with a pinch of salt. Although, Grubb's predictions have proven to have a good standing, including his claim that a new Twisted Metal game was in development and that the highly-anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 could be an Xbox exclusive.

Dragon Age 4 trailer

Dragon Age 4, at the time of writing, has two teaser trailers as well as a behind-the-scenes teaser video. When the game was first announced at The Game Awards in 2018, it was accompanied by a dark but exciting teaser trailer. As expected, it didn't really give much away about Dragon Age 4, but it did finish with "#TheDreadWolfRises".

The most recent and glossy teaser trailer for the upcoming game appeared two years later at The Game Awards in 2020. The clip gave a little bit more detail into the style of the game and presented fans with a glimpse at Dragon Age original characters, the burly dwarf, Varric Tethras, and the elven mage, Solas.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Age 4 behind-the-scenes teaser, which premiered at Gamescom 2020, featured interviews with various members of the team at BioWare. Speaking about the potential themes of the game, Patrick Weekes, Lead Writer, said:

"We want to tell the story of, 'What happens when you don't have power?' What happens when the people in charge aren't willing to address the issues?"

The clip also showed a quick peek at the voices behind the new characters of the Dragon Age franchise, Bellaria and Davrin.

Dragon Age 4: The Dread Wolf

Dragon Age 4 hasn't been given an official title yet by BioWare or EA. However, the hashtag at the end of the first teaser trailer has led many fans to believe the upcoming game could be called 'The Dread Wolf Rises'. Not to mention, the appearance of Solas has only added fuel to the dragon fire.

For those who don't what The Dread Wolf is, he is the established villain of the game as the elven god of betrayal or rebellion. This ancient god also has quite a hefty title that would give Daenerys Targaryen a run for her money. As well as being named Fen'Harel, The Dread Wolf is known as: He Who Hunts Alone, Lord of Tricksters, The Great Wolf, Roamer of the Beyond, the old wolf, and Bringer of Nightmares.

*Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't finished Dragon Age: Inquisition*

Any Dragon Age players out there will, of course, remember the bombshell that was dropped at the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition. In a post-credit scene, it was revealed that it was actually Solas who is The Dread Wolf.

Dragon Age 4 was originally planned to be a huge multi-player platform, however, after the tragic flop of BioWare's Anthem, EA has apparently decided to axe all multi-player modes from Dragon Age 4.

Dragon Age 4 may seem like a long way away, but you can be sure it's in safe hands at BioWare. Keep your eyes peeled on GGRecon for more Dragon Age 4 news, guides, and more as we learn all about the next instalment.
