There hasn’t been a new TopSpin game since 2011, leaving tennis fans pining for the illusive series, but finally, it is set to return with TopSpin 2K25. Since the last game, plenty has changed, especially in the world of tennis - meaning this will be the first appearance for plenty of professional players and a jumping-on-point for many tennis fans.

Not only will we dive into when the game will be released, but also the different cover stars and editions on top of what platforms the latest sports game from 2K will be arriving on. Even better? I've played it, and you can check out my preview for some early impressions.

When will TopSpin 2K25 be released?

TopSpin 2K25 is set to release on April 26, 2024, although there will be three days of early access if you buy the Deluxe edition or the Grand Slam Edition of the game. From what I’ve seen so far, this will be the biggest and grandest TopSpin to date - this page will be kept updated with any new information between now and when the game releases.

Platforms

We are a few years into the current generation, which means we are starting to see more and more games leaving the previous generation behind. However, with TopSpin 2K25 that is not the case, and below are all the platforms you can enjoy the game on:

  • PS4
  • PS5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC

It will be interesting to see if anything is sacrificed to get the game on the previous generation of consoles.

Cover stars and editions

There are four different editions of TopSpin 2K25, with different cover stars depending on which edition of the game you purchase. Legends of the sport Serena Williams and Roger Federer will feature on the Standard Edition and the Grand Slam Edition, whilst the Deluxe Edition celebrates the current greats with Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek, and Francis Tiafoe

Here is what’s included in each edition:

  • The Standard Edition will be available for £59.99 on previous-gen platforms (PS4, Xbox One consoles) and PC and for £64.99 on current-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S)
  • The Standard Cross-Gen Digital Edition will be available for £64.99 on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The Standard Cross-Gen Digital Edition includes the Standard Edition across previous and current-gen platforms within the same console family and the same PlayStation or Xbox account
  • The Deluxe Edition will be available for £84.99 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
    •  Includes the Standard Edition (with dual-gen entitlement for console)
    • Under the Lights Pack
    • New Wave Pack featuring Alternate Outfits for Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek, and Francis Tiafoe, plus a collection of additional apparel
    • The Rookie Rise Pack featuring MyPlayer Boost and 1700 VC
    • 3 days early access
  • The Grand Slam Edition will be available for £109.99 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC

Gameplay details for TopSpin 2K25

During my preview I got a bit of hands-on time with the game to experience the gameplay and what can be expected upon release. One of the most exciting aspects was seeing the different pros who are set to feature, so far these are the pros that we know will feature:

  • Andre Agassi
  • Andy Murray
  • Belinda Bencic
  • Ben Shelton
  • Carlos Alcaraz
  • Carolina Wozniak
  • Coco Gauff
  • Daniil Medvedev
  • Emma Raducanu
  • Frances Tiafoe
  • Iga Swiatek
  • John McEnroe
  • Karolína Plíšková
  • Leylah Fernandez
  • Madison Keys
  • Maria Sharapova
  • Matteo Berrettini
  • Naomi Osaka
  • Paula Badosa
  • Pete Sampras
  • Roger Federer
  • Serena Williams
  • Sloane Stephens
  • Steffi Graf
  • Taylor Fritz

There are 24 athletes that can be used across 48 different courts with 15 real locations together with the four Grand Slam tournaments. Each of the pros felt unique, and they have different PlayStyles with them being captured by other players to imitate how they move in real life - Roger Federer was captured for the game so his movements are as close to real as you can get. It helps how they feel in the game, as well as highlighting their unique attributes and abilities.

On top of this, there will also be the opportunity to build your pro and use them in the MyPlayer game mode, where you get to shape your career and try to become one of the very best.

Game Modes

After the recent announcements surrounding the game, we also now have the list of game modes set to be included. Here are all the different game modes announced:

  • 2K Tour
  • Exhibition
  • MyCAREER
  • TopSpin Academy
  • World Tour

TopSpin Academy is where most players will want to start, acting as a tutorial for newcomers and anyone who is rusty. 2K Tour is the online mode where you will be able to try out your skills against other players in the game, competing in a leaderboard to see how high you can climb.

MyCAREER is the game's career mode and once you improve, building up your pro you can then take them into World Tour. World Tour will see players go head to head using their MyPLAYERs in tournaments.

Exhibition is simply playing matches, either against the computer or other players and it is very much what it says on the tin.

That is all there is to know about TopSpin 2K25. April is so far away so if you’re looking for more games between now and then, take a look at our release calendar where we have the release dates for Stellar Blade, No Rest for the Wicked and more.
