With the Baldur's Gate 3 PlayStation release looming ever closer, people will be wondering if it will also be on Xbox at some point. 

Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the most expansive role-playing games of the year and has received much praise following the PC release on August 3.

Despite the fanfare and excitement for the title - and a new game from Larian Studios in general - the Xbox audience is left wondering if they'll have to miss out on this one.

So, check out if Baldur's Gate 3 will be on Xbox.

Will Baldur's Gate 3 be on Xbox?

Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on the Xbox Series X|S in 2023, but we currently have no exact release date.

This news was confirmed by Larian CEO, Swen Vincke, on Twitter, stating "super happy to confirm...we've found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still".

He went on to elaborate that "all improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X", however in a surprise move that abandons feature parity between both Xbox consoles, the "Series S will not feature split-screen co-op".

We know that Larian had issues developing the Xbox port initially, as back in February, a community manager for Larian posted to the game's subreddit about the Xbox version, stating: 

"Xbox players, we've seen your questions about if/when you can expect Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox" the post began. "We've had an Xbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 in the works for some time, but we have run into some technical issues - particularly with split-screen co-op."

Ultimately, they confirmed it's still being worked on, stating, "we are still working on an Xbox version of BG3, but we're not yet confident enough to announce it."

On the same day, Creative Director at Larian, Swen Vincke, took to Twitter to say "Relax. We still aren't playing the exclusivity game."

It seems a resolution was found in the end between Larian and Xbox, as the game will now be releasing in 2023 for Xbox Series X|S.
