Although it's supposed to be Ubisoft's answer for Call of Duty, XDefiant still has plenty to prove. While its playable beta was an interesting peek into the potential of a CoD-alike operating on a free-to-play basis, players still had an awful lot of complaints about the nitty-gritty of online gunplay.

The team behind the game at Ubisoft have been pretty upfront about the changes being made, which is a refreshing win in the current gaming landscape, but there's more to be seen if they're going to topple the FPS giants.

Much like how Fortnite and Warzone make bank on their gaming crossovers, some big collabs could be the thing to push XDefiant over the top as more than just another FPS that'll be blowing out with the wind.

It is suggested that XDefiant could be putting its home in Ubisoft to good use, as reports claim that some big crossovers are on the way.

A dataminer (via Imgur) has dug up some new details about potential crossovers with Rainbow Six and Assassin's Creed, hinting that they could be coming to the game in the form of new Factions. If this is the case, they'd join the ones already inspired by the likes of Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs.

The claim details Assassin's Creed's Brotherhood of Blades and GSG9 from Rainbow Six Siege, and frankly, it's a pretty expected change set to come to the game. Fans have been bracing for crossovers to grace the shooter from other Ubisoft titles since it first appeared on online stores, and this is just what they were after.

What are the other XDefiant factions yet to come?

It doesn't end with the collabs, as the same leaker says there are more factions yet to come. They suggested that Wolves, Spetsnaz and Highhwaymen are coming to XDefiant. Given that the main leak post on Reddit has now officially been pulled from the site, the validity of the claim is easier to believe.

Unfortunately, Ubisoft's Mark Rubin just announced that it has delayed XDefiant, which could now see it clash with Modern Warfare 3. Big things are coming for XDefiant, and it's clear that the team isn't considering itself out for the count yet. Still, it'll take more than an AC crossover to trounce CoD.
