Oh dear, it looks like Raven Software just can't catch a break with Call of Duty: Warzone at the moment. If it isn't NICKMERCS favouring Apex Legends and Dr Disrespect slamming the battle royale favourite across the board, it's players moaning about the Superman jump glitch, pay-to-win mechanics, and general boredom.

Those hard to please Warzone players are back, and this time, it's Raven's latest challenge that's in their crosshairs. The developer's Battle Axe challenge should give you a cool weapon to hack through opponents - just in time for the arrival of Ghostface for Halloween. The problem is, it's not exactly easy to obtain.

What are Warzone players saying about the Battle Axe challenge?

It didn't take long for the Battle Axe challenge to be branded "ridiculous", "garbage", and a number of other NSFW names. Basically, unlocking it involves the gruelling task of obtaining a kill with a gun, melee weapon, and a piece of lethal equipment in the same life. If that wasn't tough enough, you have to do it in 15 completed matches.

Posting on Reddit, u/MurderGirafffe19 reminded us just how hard this is to complete. Nah, it's okay, we didn't even want the Battle Axe anyway - insert side-eye emoji here. Others shared their frustration and accused Raven of trying to make us part with real-world money to polish off the challenge.

One disgruntled gamer wrote, "They might as well have added “BUY OUR BUNDLE PLZ!” at the end", while another added, "They have no content to add, so they make some random melee weapon and make it look like they added a lot of things to a new season, they're pretty garbage devs."

A third was unimpressed with Raven in general and concluded, "The challenges in Warzone are ridiculous. It's always like 'Get 15 kills on a Tuesday when it's 68°F, wearing a green shirt, while your mom is yelling at you to take the trash out'. I know they're trying to force you to buy the games."

Does everyone hate the latest Warzone challenge?

Not everyone was against the Battle Axe challenge though. The melee community came to Raven's side. One happy camper said, "Lots of us are Melee guys dude. Lots more than you’d think." Another cheered, "I mean, some people like the melee weapons. I like to run melee only when I just feel like messing around."

Still, the general consensus is that a lot of these challenges are built to be ridiculously hard in the free Warzone, which forces you over to buy Black Ops Cold War. It's also apparently easy to polish off the Battle Axe challenge in Zombies Onslaught Elite, but there's a small problem that you'll need a PlayStation for that.

Some claim the challenge isn't that hard, however, we think it's one hell of a grind to unlock the axe without actually splashing the cash. Whether you're a melee fan or not, there's no denying the Battle Axe challenge is a tough one. Is it really worth it for a melee weapon when we've been asking for a Walther PPK for the past year? You decide...
