Warzone fans have spotted that one game-changing piece of equipment has been left in MW2 and are scratching their heads.

Modern Warfare 3 did do quite a lot in righting the wrongs of the previous games gone by, namely its MW2 predecessor.

Among other questionable features, MW2 championed water combat, an ethos that flicked through to Warzone too with the creation of the canal-based city Vondel and even had some impact on Urzikstan which sees a huge river flow through the centre of the map.

But Sledgehammer Games has seemingly stopped throwing players in the deep end, literally, and with the boots-on-the-ground warfare being favoured again, Warzone players have just noticed that the battle royale completely ditched one of its most important underwater buffs: the Scuba Gas Mask.

All those Scuba Steves who marvelled in the quirks and cavities of Zarqwa Hydroelectric (notably not Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag) will be quite familiar with the Scuba Mask, as it allowed players to stay underwater for much longer than others, which came in handy when escaping heavy gunfire.

But with water being largely removed from the game, aside from the poolside 6 Star multiplayer map, players have just realised the mask has been removed.

Taking to a Reddit thread, players have quizzed where this feature went and even debated whether it could return.

"They even made the water crystal clear compared to Al Mazrah," said one fan, adding, "[they] probably wanted to shift away from water-based engagements."

The Scuba Mask has not been seen in the entirety of the MW3 era, and despite having been DMZ only, the fan base is now manifesting its return, amid the new crevises in Rebirth Island.

Amid the discussion about the Scuba Masks' whereabouts, some players have called for its return.

"This mf would come in handy so f**kin much, especially in the underwater bunker on Rebirth Island or for when you kill someone and the loot drops to the bottom of the water and you risk drowning trying to pick it up," one Redditor said in a popular post.

"I’d love for it to be used though for actual submerged combat," said a second fan. "They have underwater gunfight mechanics for a reason. They never take advantage of it."

For the most part, it took nearly six months for people to realise it has been removed, so it might not be on top of Sledgehammer Games' list to make a return by popular demand.
