We're witnessing the 'rebirth' of Rebirth Island in Call of Duty, and now, the close quarters of the bioweapons facility has found a new home in Warzone. While we hear the usual complaints that Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone have lost their way as we wait for the rumoured Black Ops Gulf War, Activision continues to prove us wrong.

Despite Rebirth Island's popularity, the Resurgence map was seemingly lost in the shuffle when the OG Warzone was bulldozed to make way for Warzone 2.0 (which is now simply referred to Warzone). Still, after Fortune's Keep made a lacklustre return in Season 2, Rebirth Island is hoping to do a little better in Season 3.

Rebirth Island teases dynamic day and night cycle

Players have already been divided by Rebirth Island's proposed changes, and just like Fortune's Keep was lambasted for blowing holes in everything, the beloved Prison POI has inadvertedly become an open-air prison. The jury is already out on Rebirth Island, with Mason "Symfuhny" Lanier branding it an L.

Maybe you're being too harsh, as with a new iteration of Warzone, there comes a new chance to improve on Rebirth Island's already solid bones. According to leakers like @ModernWarzone, the Resurgence map will return with a new day and night cycle that adds weather effects. Yes, that means fog.

We'd already heard about a slew of fundamental changes to make Rebirth Island more 'dynamic,' and while a day and night cycle doesn't do much in something like Fortnite, it could give us a very different Rebirth Island depending on the hour. ModernWarzone mentions about unique items spawing at different times.

Enough of the fog

The fog could be rolling across the sea, and as well as making visibility an issue, we might need our night vision goggles later in the day. We're told these weather events will be "infrequent," and even though the novelty could soon wear off, it'll likely spice things up for a while.

Some loved the idea of Rebirth Island's potential day and night cycle, with one cheering, "Thats what WE waited for finally 😍😍." Another added, This is going to be epic," and a third said, "Dynamic weather / different times of day sound awesome. Just hope they are done well. Vondel fog was either nothing or cranked to 11."

Sceptics were less impressed, as one critic moaned, "I'm curious what data tells them we like fog. A rainstorm or something would be cool imo but fog is just... depressing." Another grumbled, "They added chance of fog to Rebirth when no one f*****g wants it or asked. In fact, most people begged not to add fog to another map 😭."

You might remember the backlash Vondel's own 'dynamic fog' faced, and it's fair to say, most are concerned Rebirth Island is going the same way. Would it have been so hard to give us thunder and lightning. Either way, a foggy Rebirth Island on Ranked? Yeah, good luck with that.
