Update 25/03: Activision has confirmed Rebirth Island is coming back to Warzone as part of Season 3, promising a trailer on March 26.

The long-running Call of Duty series loves to give us a (literal) blast from the past, and like 2023's Modern Warfare 3 relying heavily on the original Modern Warfare 2 maps, the franchise's Warzone spin-off also loves the smell of nostalgia in the morning.

We know the beloved Rebirth Island is returning to Warzone, and alongside Fortune's Keep, we're poised for a 'resurgence' of the resurgence map pool. Intel on when Rebirth Island will be back is currently being kept top secret. Thankfully, Activision can't help but tease Rebirth's revival, pointing at an imminent return.

Rebirth Island's return could be just around the corner

On Twitter, the official CoD account has raised a few eyebrows by replying to a Rebirth Island clip from May 2022. The importance of 2022 is because Rebirth Island was removed in November 2022 when the OG Warzone made way for Warzone 2.

Even though Warzone 2 resurgence maps Ahsika Island and Vondel have had some success, they're much like our love of Verdansk - nothing can stack up to the original. As the clip is from May 2022, there are theories that May 2024 is the date to mark in your diary.

If Rebirth Island is coming back in May 2024, it would neatly fit previous rumbles of a release in Warzone Season 3. Call of Duty leaker ForwardLeaks has given a slew of supposed leaks, claiming Rebirth Island will return with a modernised look, the return of Specialist Perks, new Easter eggs, and a "highly likely" Season 3 release.

Let's not forget Rebirth's little brother, with Fortune's Keep putting its mark on the MW3 era. The map made its long-awaited rise from the grave in the current Season 2, with deployable bridges, flooded wine cellars, and the map being the new home of Ranked Resurgence luring us back.

Still, many are waiting for the rebirth of Rebirth and to see what's new. While most of the conversation is taken up by Verdansk's eventual return, Rebirth Island's revival is sure to be a major talking point. While the team is keeping Rebirth hidden for a little longer, Season 3 looks like the time to dial in and get ready to secure those Ws.
