History looks to be repeating itself again, as Activision appears to be living and dying by its own previous mistakes. Since Fortune's Keep's reintegration into Warzone, fans have often criticised its makeover, pointing out that the destruction of the map, which left a gaping hole in its centre, has ruined it.

Now, with Rebirth Island 2 confirmed, and its trailer airing, fans are fearing the worst after noticing some structural changes.

Rebirth Island hit with major changes ahead of Warzone reintegration

It originally looked like Rebirth Island survived the wrath of the publishers, who have a history of just blowing up their maps before re-adding them down the line.

But the newly-released trailer has confirmed this not to be true, as fans can see the once high-and-mighty lighthouse tower was subject to an airstrike and has collapsed onto the Prison.

This has created a large hole in the roof of the prison and also created a pathway up to the focal point of the map from the ground floor. Previously, this had to be taken via ziplines or by surging through the inside of the building and storming the stairs.

Some fans have hypothesised that this lighthouse destruction happens mid-game, as the trailer shows the map in all of its glory early on. It hints at some form of mid-game destruction that will change the dynamic.

The destruction of Alcatraz's structure isn't the only change, as the trailer shows some underwater passageways being available as something that was never possible before.

Seeing the changes, fans have taken to social media to slate this choice, with one saying, "What’s the fetish with smashing holes in everything? Why can’t we just have the original map?" "Well they did it. They actually ruined it," added another.

Rebirth Island will return on April 3, and its new look will be really tested.
