Warzone 2's Gas Is Being Replaced By A Sandstorm

Might be time to ditch the gas mask for goggles and a face covering.

Warzone wouldn't quite fit the battle royale genre if it wasn't for the collapsing circle of deadly gas that forces players to relocate and fight on rotations. Without a circle of terminating threats, players could cower in building on opposite sides of the map and enjoy the scenery.

The gas in Warzone stems from the Nova 6 storylines in campaigns gone by, as the chemical agent is used to diminish enemies and torture army veterans into information submission.

However, a new dawn is upon us Warzone 2, and instead of the choking chemicals following us to a new "beautiful" map, we're instead facing another environmental foe in the form of a sandstorm.

Leaks Suggest Warzone's Collapsing Circle Will Be A Sandstorm

It's yet to be known just where the upcoming Warzone 2 map is supposed to be located. However, we can now expect it to be in some desert-like country, as a new Warzone leak has suggested a sandstorm/duststorm will be sweeping in to kill opponents.

The image included with the leak is a discarded picture from Modern Warfare 2019, where CoDCasters could zoom out of the multiplayer map, Ramazza. Despite the image not quite adding up to proof of a sandstorm, leakers do believe that a similar cloud will be closing in on the Warzone 2 map.

Should the gas be removed in favour of a sandstorm, this could also mean an overhaul of the Gas Mask, which despite only just getting a toggle icon, could be discarded for a different form of face covering and a brand-new animation.

Warzone 2 Map To Feature NPCs, New Contracts, And Loot Backpacks

Alongside the addition of a dooming sandstorm, leaks suggest a wealth of new vehicles are on their way. We've already seen leaks that suggest a complete vehicle overhaul is imminent, but the latest wave also suggests that vehicular warfare will be tailored to the environment too; players will be able to shoot out tires and also fire back out of windows.

Warzone 2 is also expected to add new contracts (as well as the returning bounties, recon's, and most wanted features), tiered loot backpacks, and live NPCs, placed at random.

If you're too scared of the pending sandstorm, you might also be able to sneak away through the skies with the help of Modern City's Highrise remake and its helicopter.

The new leaks make Warzone 2's arrival much more exciting, with many new dimensions to the game coming to fruition.
