Details have been pouring out for the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 title, the nineteenth annual release of the Call of Duty franchise, with map details and deadly antagonists already being leaked. However, for the realms of battle royale, the upcoming sequel has been sealed with secrecy - a first for any Call of Duty game.

From what we already know, the developers are hard at work behind the scenes to give us a Warzone 2 experience that will feature ranked play and a much-needed gas mask toggle, and we only know as much because they will be tested in the current iteration of Warzone in Season 5.

But all the secrets are set to become exposed in September, as Activision is set to unveil Warzone 2 in a showcase.

Warzone 2 Is To Be Revealed On September 15

Announced alongside the Modern Warfare 2 Marina Grand Prix multiplayer map and the dates for the multiplayer beta tests, Infinity Ward has said that a Call of Duty: Next showcase will serve as "an era-defining franchise event," where the first glimpse at Warzone 2 will be aired.

During a break in the Call of Duty League World Championships Grand Final between Atlanta FaZe and Los Angeles Thieves, Infinity Ward detailed that the "event showcasing the immediate future of Call of Duty," will be aired on September 15, just one day before the PlayStation exclusive weekend of the beta begins.

Here, Infinity Ward has promised a look at both Warzone 2 and Warzone Mobile, and will likely show us around the new map and the sandbox mode.

What Can We Expect To See In Call of Duty: Next?

The Call of Duty: Next showcase on September 5 will likely be heavily tailored towards Modern Warfare 2, given that the multiplayer beta launches the following day. Infinity Ward has promised streamers will be playing the game, which could work in the same start-studded setting we saw for Black Ops Cold War - hopefully, they pit Seth "Scump" Abner against Tim "TimTheTatman" Betar once again.

On the Warzone 2 front, it's likely we'll be able to see the remastered version of Highrise in all of its glory, as well as a deep look at the map setting. Many people might see their eyes deceiving them though, as Verdansk could return too, but not in the way you might hope for.

Infinity Ward has also promised "Unannounced information" and "surprises", which will make the Call of Duty: Next showcase worth turning up for.
