By this point, we'd surprised if the next Grand Theft Auto wasn't set in Vice City. While we're still no closer to Rockstar Games actually announcing GTA 6, there are continued claims, rumours, and leaks that the pastel paradise of Vice City will be making its much-hyped return.

The problem with GTA 6 is the fact that Rockstar hasn't even confirmed its existence, meaning we have to wade through a quagmire of leaks that are normally 100% fake. Only recently, we covered how one GTA fan created a fake map simply for the clout, so excuse us if we're a little sceptical about things these days.

What's the latest GTA 6 x Vice City leak?

One of the biggest "leaks" from the past few weeks included a plane flying above what's supposed to be the GTA 6 map. Some players have written them off as fake without so much as a second glance, however, another has looked a little closer and uncovered some interesting details.

Redditor u/SouthernFailway said that the city backdrop doesn't seem familiar. They admitted it looked a little like Surfer's Paradise from Horizon 4, but going into Google Maps, it seems to be a possible recreation of North Miami Beach. Interestingly, it's also a compressed GTA style instead of a 1:1 copy.

Moving into speculation territory, the OP thinks it's a playtest thanks to the build date and time. Elsewhere, the minimap is a lot like the leaked Red Dead Redemption 2 map that came out long before the 2018 game and was later revealed as true.

Is the GTA 6 x Vice City Leak real?

We're going to air on the side of caution, but the Redditor makes some strong arguments. Then again, their whole argument hinges on the fact the screenshots look like the GTA 6 map that was recently leaked. The problem is, we previously shared our own thoughts that the leaked map was fake - suggesting the plane pics could also be fake.

Other Redditors were equally unimpressed and shared their frustrations that we're no closer to figuring out where GTA 6 will be set. One critic wrote, "The amount of evidence? Literally just two images correlate... so the same person made both of them. Simple". Another added, "Why the hell are these pics always blurry/out of focus/moved. Someone said it could be a screenshot from The crew 2, have you checked that by any chance?"

Then again, there were plenty who believed this is the real deal. Someone cheered, "So I’ve been extremely skeptical about all these recent photos. But I gotta give it to ya OP, you might have gotten close to convincing me. Im still not sold that the map is real, (I just think I don’t want it to be, I’m not a fan of it) but this post is some good sh*t. The minimap matching with the leaked map is prolly the best clue for me".

The jury is still out on whether any of the recent leaks are legitimate but despite rumours GTA 6 could be announced in 2022, we can't figure out whether there's a Vice City return on the cards. Still, it might be best to iron your Hawaiian shirt and get some '80s vinyls on standby.
