We're all for a bit of realism in Call of Duty, and there's nothing more annoying than a title that is confused about which era it's set in, but Vanguard has lost the plot when it comes to depicting a post-World War II setting. Having originally embarked on the Vanguard journey by telling the untold stories of war veterans, Sledgehammer Games were previously insistent on reflecting this era in the arcade shooter style, combining a modern way of gaming with a classical retro skin and setting.

However, when you have a naked titan running away from a Christmas Krampus on Gavutu, the sense of realism is thrown out of the window. Despite the barbaric attempts of spicing life up in Vanguard, the developers have remained persistent that one element of a normal Call of Duty game cannot be replicated due to being an unrealistic adaptation of the times.

Until now.

Sledgehammer Games To Add Trophy System To Vanguard

With trophy systems only being designed in the 2000s, Sledgehammer has been adamant that they will not add the equipment to the game, despite calls from the fans who are sick of having little defence against grenades.

Now, the wall that the fans have been knocking down has finally crumbled, and the developers have caved in. Trophy systems are on the way to Vanguard in Season 3.

As confirmed in the Season 3 roadmap, Trophy Systems will be coming as a Field Upgrade, where players can now pick between the popular Dead Silence and the grenade blocker.

Vanguard Devs Give In To Realism

While games such as Battlefield pride themselves on realism, Call of Duty's ambitious crossovers have failed to give the same impact. Alongside Trophy Systems, Season 3 will also add three reactive blueprints, which certainly weren't used in the trenches of the Second World War.

The High Voltage Reactive Mastercraft, Tread Lightly Mastercraft, and Hell Hounds Mastercraft Ultimate Pack will all be available throughout the season, adding a neon green or molten orange luminous vibe to your gameplay.

Over in Warzone, Kong Vs Godzilla will also erupt on Caldera, almost acting as a cuss to realism, as who gives a $#*% about that anymore. Where Kar98K's and MG Guns were prevalent around the world in the 40s and 50s, a 100-foot tall water dragon isn't likely to have been a secret weapon for the SAS in real life.

Trophy Systems and Godzilla will be landing on April 27, although they'll do little to defend her from King Kong's beefy right hook.
