A Guide To Sova And Recon Dart Spots

Sova is one of VALORANT's more skilful agents, and requires a deep understanding of each map and ability available to truly utilise his kit.

His first ability is his Owl Drone, which you can use to scout ahead of yourself and fire tracking darts into your opponents. These darts will repeatedly scan your opponent for a short duration, and when used in combination with your ultimate, can result in a free kill or two.

The second ability Sova has at his disposal is his Shock Bolts. These are the same as his Recon Bolt, except they're designed to do small area damage upon landing. If you have information from your Owl Drone, Recon Bolt, or simply using the information provided by your team, you can heavily damage or even kill unaware opponents.

His last ability that is not his ultimate but it is his most powerful, is his Recon Bolt. Throughout this piece, you will be shown two spots, one for attack and one for defence, on each map, that will help you and your team to victory. The Recon Bolt is incredibly powerful due to it providing you with live pings and outlines of enemies until it is destroyed, or its three scans expire. During this time, you can shoot the enemy through a surface, combined with an ultimate, or simply force the enemy to destroy the bolt and change position.

When charging up either your Shock Bolt or Recon Bolt, it doesn't matter how much each bar of charge is filled up; it will go the same distance all the time. For example, if you want to bounce an arrow off a wall with one bar of charge (the first box not completely full), it doesn't matter how much of the bar is filled; as long as it does not fill up to the box proceeding it.

Lastly, you have your ultimate. Sova's ultimate is very strong but only when using map knowledge, or using it around information gathered by your abilities, or provided by your team. You get three shots during the duration of your ultimate, and it takes between one and two seconds for the shot to fully charge. Once you've hit an enemy, they will be shown to everyone on your team, and you can track their outline to finish them off with another blast of your ultimate.

The first map we're going to visit is Ascent, VALORANT's most recent addition to the map pool.

This arrow is for those who like to sit on B site as Sova and use an Ares or Odin due to their high penetration through surfaces. To aim this arrow, simply push yourself into the corner of the box on B site and align your charge bar with the darker (dimmer) part of the light. Apply over one bar of charge, and it will land on the roof behind the opposing team, providing you with information on whether they're pushing B, or potentially into the middle of the map.

This next arrow is very simple but can provide a lot of information on whether a player is challenging the middle of the map. Simply watch the video below and point your crosshair at the tip of the building, apply over two bars of charge, two bounces and the arrow will land towards the middle wall of their spawn.

Next up is Haven, the unique map with three bomb sites instead of the standard two.

The first arrow for this map we'll be showing off to you is for the defence of A site, providing information on the entrances to A site, and also the middle window of the map for the attackers.

To get this arrow onto one of the trees near their spawn, simply push yourself onto the corner of the box as shown on the video and fire a fully charged arrow, with one bounce aiming at the bottom-middle of the two windows. This arrow will fly over and find itself hidden within the tree leaves, providing you with instant information on where an attack may be coming from.

The next arrow is for attacking C site. Push yourself into the corner of C long and aim at the top leaf of the tree shown on the video. Apply over one bar of charge, and no bounces and the arrow will soar over to the back of the site, providing you with information of pretty much everything.

Now we find ourselves in the desert map of Bind, the only map featuring teleporters allowing for quick rotations around the map.

The first arrow to be shown is an amazingly simple arrow that finds its way into Hookah looking over B site. To get this arrow perfect, simply place yourself on-top of two loose rocks behind the boxes if you were to push out to the fountain from spawn. Place the letter 'O' of 'Bounce' so that it is just above the top corner of the flap on the roof. Apply just over two bars of charge and no bounces.

The defensive arrow we have for this map is the most complicated to align out of all the spots shown, so be sure to pay attention. Underneath your armour indicator, you will see a white line. The tip of the white line on the left has to line up with the top right corner of the shadow just underneath the roof of the building shown on the video. Ensure that you're also aligned directly facing the box, apply just over one charge of power and no bounces.

The two arrows we have to offer today are for the map Split. We'll be giving you one defensive arrow and one offensive arrow, as we have done with all the other maps, to help you kickstart your journey to become a Sova main.

The first arrow is an attacker sided arrow that will bounce perfectly on top of the sign located on A site. In order to complete this arrow line-up, you must place yourself into the corner of the fencing shown on the video. Align your crosshair with the leaf shown on the video, and then simply hold down until fully charged with one bounce. The crosshair will move slightly upwards when charging, and that is completely fine - do not attempt to correct it.

The last arrow of the day is to help your team understand where the initial enemy presence of the round is going to be, and also provide your teammate on B site with information on whether they will be pushing through B Main (Garage).

To do this arrow, push yourself into the corner of the catwalk on B site and step out slightly until you can see a wooden pole sticking outside of the building, aim at the right side of that wooden pole, and apply just over one bar of charge with no bounce and it will find itself right behind the enemies as they're pushing B Main.

We hope that these arrow spots can help guide you to victory during your competitive VALORANT games and we'll be sure to see you as the next Radiant Sova main soon.
