Epic games is celebrating all things Marvel in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4, with plenty of spandex clad heroes and villains making their way onto the map. At current count, there are eight to chose from, meaning players can suit up as Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Storm, Mystique, Groot, and Doctor Doom.

Although this only a small selection of the good and the great Marvel has to offer, there's also another fan-favourite hiding in plain sight. It just wouldn't be the Guardians of the Galaxy without Groot's travelling companion by his side, so if you're ready, here's how to unlock Rocket Raccoon in Season 4.

Season 4's first trailer showed the characters go up against Galactus, who seems to be the big bad of this narrative and it intent on devouring the whole map. While all of the above characters got their time in the spotlight, players spotted Rocket Raccoon and rightly questioned why he wasn't one of the playable skins. Sadly, Rocket won't be part of the main story. Instead, he's a Groot emote that is unlocked at Level 49.

The adorable "Battle Brothers" is a nod to the duo's iconic scene in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie cast Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Groot. The two were already firm friends and famously spun around shooting enemies in the prison scene. When you reach level 49, you'll have to complete a number of Awakening Challenges before you can enjoy "Battle Brothers.

Firstly, Epic wants you to plant a seed on a heart-shaped island to the north of the map while wearing your Groot skin. Up in the A-4 tile, there are three little islands, with the heart-shaped one being pretty hard to miss.

Next, you have to emote at friendship monument. Head to the coast by Sweaty Sands and stand near the destroyed fort. When stood between Hayman and Pipeman, you simply emote as Groot to finish the challenge. If you've done it right, "Battle Brothers" will be immediately unlocked and Rocket will start dutifully following you around.

Even though Rocket is just an emote, he behaves just like a pet would - and also doesn't despawn. We're just a bit bummed that Rocket doesn't get to do more or have his own skin. That being said, there are hints that Spider-Man could be a late addition to the season as a skin, so players might not have seen the last of what the season has to offer in terms of famous Marvel faces.

When it comes to emotes among the main eight, there are some pretty cool ones. Thor unlocks his thunder ability at Level 15, Storm can swirl a gale at Level 50, Mystique takes the form of whoever she just killed at Level 86, and Wolverine makes the iconic "snikt" noise of his claws when unlocked through a unique set of challenges. Still, there's no escaping the fact that the Rocket Raccoon emote steals the crown as Fortnite's most adorable. Well almost. We think the Baby Groot back bling just takes the edge this time.
