The Sims 4 Is Finally Adding Burglars

Ah, simpler times. Who could forget the golden era of The Sims when you'd take the steps away from the pool and kill your Sim, the Tragic Clown would pop by to make everyone depressed, and a stripey-jumpered burglar would steal the antiques you earned from a 9-5 in a job you hated. It was perfectly ludicrous.

Some elements of The Sims have been there from the start, but others like toddlers, random phone calls, and even newspapers have been given the boot. Most notably, unique NPCs like the Clown Catcher, Bunny the Dancer, the Burglar, and even Drew Carey have been shown the door... or have they?

Are Burglars Back In The Sims 4?

Back in the day, we remember pretty crude mods that allowed to download unique skin packs like the X-Men, and while the franchise has come a long way from sticking some dodgy pixels on a man's head to make him Wolverine, the modding community is alive and bigger than ever.

Although Maxis is known for listening to players about what they want back in the game, someone has taken the Burglar issue into their own hands. Over on Twitter, CarlsSimsGuides showed off their "gameplay overhaul."

Here, Burglars are back in spectacular style in The Sims 4. Burglars will visit late and night to steal your valuables, but this time, there are over 25 ways to fight them off. The mod makes the most of "supernatural powers, and even the Simray from Scientist [career]." Now that's what we call karma. Carl promises there will be regular updates, but already, fans love the idea.

One supporter simple wrote, "This is the best mod ever," while another added, "OMFG yesssss let's gooo." Carl has already highlighted upgrades like a working burglar alarm and even a "bad neighbourhood" lot where Burglars appear more frequently.

Why Aren't Burglars In The Sims 4?

Maxis made the decision not to include Burglars in The Sims 4 because they apparently triggered anxiety. When we were younger, we'll admit the Burglars used to scare us a little, but according to sources, their signature music was triggering anxiety in some players. Instead of reworking them for The Sims 4, this legacy NPC was axed.

Modding Burglars back into The Sims 4 is all well and good, but it's not like it used to be. Who doesn't miss the days where Sims with werewolf abilities would be alerted to a Burglar's presence by the alarm and then fight them out on the lawn?

Burglars have been a staple of The Sims and even made revenge lists. When one redditor asked what's the worst thing you've done in The Sims, a player said they trapped a Burglar in the basement, tortured them, then burned their family alive. With the Burglar mod, you can now let your torturous minds run wild - you sickos!
