Maxis has added some weird and wonderful updates to The Sims over the years, and if it wasn't casting spells in Makin' Magic, it was nipping through time with Into the Future, or playing as aliens in Get to Work. The most recent update to The Sims 4 added werewolves to the mix, but now, we've got body hair...

It's been eight years since The Sims 4 came to console and PC, and while some of us are asking whether we'll ever get The Sims 5, EA and Maxis are keen to keep churning out the expansions. In the next, you'll be able to relive your teenage dreams with a high school expansion, that also adds body hair to the mix as a long-awaited feature.

Why Is The Sims 4 Adding Body Hair?

Since the franchise's introduction way back in 2000, The Sims has become known for its character customisation. We've come a long way, and while there are still the usual complaints about a lack of diversityThe Sims 4 boasts one of the best creation tools on the market.

Not that we imagine many of you have noticed, but The Sims 4 is lacking in the body hair department. There are limited beard options for men, which has left the game's community to use its Custom Content (CC) tools to mod them into the simulator. However, once you notice there isn't body hair in The Sims 4, it's something you can't forget.

Maxis has confirmed body hair in a future update as it unveils the High School Years expansion. Coming to all platforms on July 28, the trailer runs through all the usual teenage angst you'd expect. As well as trying to woo the boy or girl of your dreams, there are bullies to deal with, detention, and the looming anxiety of who you'll ask to the prom. Buried away in all of these, there are snippets of body hair, shaving, and plucking any unsightly hairs.

Fans React To The Sims 4 Body Hair

On June 2, someone on Twitter asked why there was no body hair. The official Sims Twitter account responded saying: "Our werewolves are covered in fur, but we can assure you that things’ll get hairy in the base game sooner than you think." Developer SimGuruFrost also promised the team was working hard on body hair, but now, we know exactly when it's coming.

Normally in The Sims 4, your little ones just go off to college and you get no control over their lives. Now, step inside Copperdale High for a whole new experience. Fans were over the moon that we get insight into their lives and finally get body hair. One cheered, "We waited 8 years for this moment. But it was worth it!" Another added, "You guys, The Sims are delivering. I'm so excited for this pack." The Sims 4 is finally adding body hair, and we're totally here "fur" it!
